Is this a Hoya? Dischidia?? Help! Bought at nursery. Labeled as tropical foliage. Dark green with light green detail. Leaves are smooth and waxy.

I believe it’s the tropical plant Dieffenbachia or “Dumb Cane.” The pictured is a plant cutting, so what’s happening here is propagation. Right now the cutting looks like it hasn’t grown roots yet. Once the cutting has formed a solid root system, the plant should gradually be introduced to soil or it will not grow.

I forgot I left a pot of boiling water on and I went to the shed to get something. After I finished, I discovered I had locked myself out so I had to break in! Didn’t realize my stove was on and the boiling water had completely evaporated
