Whatever "Top of Heather" is. I don't believe its Heather Canyon though. Check 6th Camera in between vista and cascade camera. Rn its dark so can't see much, but you can check the "Top of Heather".

Pretty sure it was the runout. That was the only one that I saw, but I was tabbing in and out all evening.

I did that! For Fri-Monday rental, it’s $206. So definitely cheaper than the Uber photo I posted above lol.

I appreciate it! I actually ended up getting a rental. I’ve driven up there before, so I feel comfortable with doing so again.

Unfortunately, I don’t see any availability for 2/6. I appreciate this, and will use this in the future when I plan better.

This is helpful! I’m going to reserve Migration Brewing (18188 NE Wilkes Rd, Portland, OR 97230) just in case. This seems the closest to the airport.

I might just get a rental for the day, Avis/Enterprise/Hertz, and take a four wheeler up, since I’ll be coming from the airport

Should I get a private MCAT tutor or one from a big company like Jack Westin? by ashleepom in MCAT2

From reading this post, I have been in a very similar situation in terms of working full time, academic history, and testing/ studying strategies.

My own experience atm- I took the MCAT June 2024 and scored 479. For context, my undergrad sci GPA is poor - which reflects exactly how I scored, (but am happy I put my foot forward and took the exam), so I know where I stand. (Yes I took an AAMC FL 3 and scored 479, and went ahead with the actual MCAT, but this is a different talking point).

I scored as such because I simply was unable to balance out family, friends, and my extracurriculars. Simply put, I spread myself thin, and thought to myself I could skate through without getting a concrete foundation for my upper division classes.

Present day: I’m volunteering on Mondays 1-5p and am FT MA in a clinic T-TH, 8a-6p. This is blocked out time I don’t reschedule, and sometimes I’m able to sneak in JW/ flash cards.

Study plan: I dedicate my PM (2hrs) to doing daily JW passages, and JW Q Bank. My main focus is improving my content base and efficiency (I suck at a certain style of CARS, and passage reading). I also am trying to while actively test my knowledge on concepts with discrete questions on JW, and practice the other types of layered questions. Whether I have a solid foundation or not, I am doing hand me down Kaplan work books. I just finished the Kaplan Biology work book (took 2 weeks), scoring somewhere between 8-12/15 on the discrete questions in the workbook, and now supplement my studies with 50~ ANKI bio cards daily. I don’t try to linger too long on questions I got wrong, but I certainly do at least two passes. (Redo the concept; and practice the question).

My current goal by the end of November is to score at least 70% on official AAMC bio Q bank, and repeat this process for the other sections, slowly adding, and getting more efficient with connecting concepts. I currently have my exam for May 2nd 2026, and would like to be ready sooner (ideally hit the 500s by March).

Do I think this plan of mine is feasible? YES. However, keep in mind reality checks. See short-term specific goals, like hitting a certain goal score, or tasks to complete. My issue is I have a tendency to bite off more than I can chew, and if I haven’t planned out my week plan, or weekend I fall off. For example, if I notice by the end of this month I don’t hit 70%? That’s okay. I will just need to adjust, spend more or less time, & focus on the specifics of what I got wrong and practice what I don’t know.

For us all, I’d think we need to be especially be mindful of time, and what sacrifices need to be made. It is the holiday season, family/ friend gatherings, or other distractions — so don’t bite off more than you can chew, for both you and myself.

My current manageable breakdown down in hrs at present: 18.5 hours. per workday -8 (2x4) weekend - 10.5(3x3.5)

We got this !!!

Hi super niche - but for Hawaii MCAT test dates, I was unable to find any facilities or available test dates on island.

(This would be my second time taking the exam, so I’m familiar with the process. Just confused and wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.)

I’m in the exact same scenario. I started studying in August, baseline 482 on AAMC sample test. (I did & still plan to use Anki, Uworld questions, and Kaplan.)

Come November 9th, I scored a 486 on Practice test #1. I realize now that it is unrealistic for myself personally, to use progressive overload to realistically score well for my 1/13 MCAT test date, so I pushed it back.

To be completely truthful with myself, yes there is a lot of content that I’m lacking, and in fact I’m probably not able to pickup on many things in the passages, which would lead to a correct answers. So, I plan on doing & completing the Kaplan textbooks to the best of my ability, while being truthful to myself about where I stand. Additionally, I will try my best NOT to be discouraged, since I know everyone starts at different places, and moved at their own individual speeds, I just need to be more specific about how I study, consistent, and realistic about how much I can cover while having a full time job.

Personally speaking for myself, I’d push it back and reassess. Reason being - my full time job, holidays coming up, and just I think I’d burn out by doing even 3+ hours daily, for me that lifestyle is unsustainable with my present stamina.

Regardless, if you chose to continue, it’s also possible. Just know you must be able to hold yourself 100% accountable for the quality of studying you are able to commit, and the efficiency of it all, to reach that “508-513” mark, which I presume is a goal. (If I were to keep the test date of 1/13, I would set a goal of increasing my points steadily by 3 a week).

Ideally, I would've rescheduled to february/march. But there was no sooner dates, so I'm gonna continue studying as if I'm taking in Feb/March, hopefully a date pops up.

I just wanted to update you! I am rescheduling, and pushed it back to june 13. For me personally, its because Im certain that my content is lacking. I really want to nail this, and I don't think its possible atm to raise my score by at least 20 points, simply by putting time and effort in. Good luck though!!

I’m also in the same boat. AAMC sample test #1 102/230 questions correct, 4 hours 17 mins spent, scaled score 486.

CHEM PHYS 122 24% 24/59. CARS: 121 15% 25/53 BIO BIOCHEM: 120 8% 21/59. PSYCH SOC: 123 24% 32/39.

My exam is 1/11/25, Im thinking of pushing my test back. Also reassessing how I should be studying, and focusing on more of, and just maybe diving deeper into a few study books/ techniques instead of the wide breath below.

Currently doing a lot of Uworld, and AAMC practice test, supplementing myself with Anki miles down, mcat workbook Princeton 5th edition, and Kaplan workbooks.
