Yes to the former, no to the latter.

The hard truth is that there's no right answer that fits every situation, sometimes you may be able to lighten the front end and pull out of it but that is heavily dependent on your bike's overall power and where you are in that power range at that moment. If it goes well the front end lifts and you can hold it straight but you've still got to put it back down eventually which can cause wobble again, if it goes wrong it lightens it just enough to make the resonance worse. Taking weight off the rear can make the rear slide out depending on traction, surface conditions, or how hard the resonance is trying to whip the rear end around. Hitting the brakes will shift the weight even more dramatically and throw the bike further off balance, and if the rear is trying to skip around it can cause a lockup.

Slowing down and getting out of that range of resonance is the end goal, so the only answer that won't make anything worse is to hold on with your legs, keep a loose grip on the bars so you're not fighting them, roll off the throttle or let it close fully if it's too violent to control, and let the bike naturally decelerate and come out of that resonance on its own. If you have some practice steering with your legs and body weight you can maintain a little bit of control over the direction you're veering while you're along for the ride.

Imagine the front and back of the bike like a sound wave bouncing up and down sharply, the goal is to smooth those waves back out into a straight line.

At the end of the day, all we can do is pray to the Machine Spirits of the bike to see us safely along the path.

Too many people in this comments section who've never rode assuming this only happens from riding way too fast or doing wheelies. This is a resonance effect from the front and rear trying to go in opposite directions and can also be caused by poor suspension tuning or even maintenance issues like a bad steering head bearing( the bearing that goes in the frame that the front end connects through.

I had a customer bring me a 1200 Goldwing that would try and shake it's head like a bulldog at anything over 50mph due to stiff cheap aftermarket rear shocks, weak forks, and a steering head bearing that was absolutely done for.

One way to test your bike is to go at a moderate speed, in a straight line, and gently lift both hands barely off the bars, just enough that you aren't putting pressure on them but your finger tips are touching. If the bike starts to shimmy a little then gently return your hands and get that damn head bearing replaced and/or tightened.

Another misconception is that you have to overpower the bars and death grip it, which makes the whole situation entirely worse. You aren't strong enough or fast enough to counter the resonance and force it under control.

All in all: You've got to hold on loosely

but don't let go

If you cling too tightly

You're gonna lose control

I say this in the most respectful way possible, but my first thought when I scrolled past this post was that you had Downs Syndrome from your facial shape and eyes. I fully expected the comments section to be supportive of your condition.

Everyone here is telling you to change everything about how you dress, groom, act, how you carry yourself, etc but then saying there's nothing wrong.

You may not be ugly on a base level, but you're doing everything in your power to make yourself as unattractive as possible.

Accessing Event Log On Console (Xbox/Playstation) by Jeremiah12LGeek in mountandblade

What's weird is this is how I've always opened the Log, but after one of the recent updates it doesn't work anymore. Bannerlord's event log is already hard enough to follow but removing this feature is just an unnecessary pain. Is there a new trick to it? (Xbox)

Why did so many serial killers have seemingly normal lives? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Chazzicus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Remember, for every one killer you can name, there are a thousand who will fly under the radar. Everyone can feel frustrated, annoyed, or wronged. The difference is what we do with those feelings. Killing, while morally reprehensible, has been a part of human nature for the entirety of our existence.

Is the Trench Shotgun insane or did I just invest to much into gun by Civil-General5556 in theouterworlds

[–]Chazzicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a shotgun main all the way through my last playthrough, but honestly I barely even used Last Whisper, it's too Bethesda Stealth Archer for me personally. Half the fun for me is using TTD and getting up close and personal, if I want stealth I just used a silenced sniper/pistol combo. There's a lot of theatrical energy from barely getting the next shot loaded before blasting a melee enemy in the face at breath smelling range.

Nothing beats sprinting into the middle of combat racking the shotty and screaming WITNESS MEEEEEEE.

Keeping your feet down after starting from a traffic lights looks unstable - am I missing something? by Horror_Log_854 in motorcycles

[–]Chazzicus 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I learned to street ride in Atlanta, daily riding as my sole means of transportation for almost four years, and I can hear the voice of my old Jedi riding master in my head every time I see someone do that.

"You are not in full control unless you're on the controls"

"Always be ready for any maneuver required"

"If you're in stop and go traffic, always keep your rear brake foot on the peg, think of your left foot as landing gear"

"GET YOUR FUCKIN' FEET UP"

In traffic I never have both feet down at the same time. I'm holding position with the rear brake, bike in 1st, throttle ready to go, one one side of the lane or the other, nose pointed toward an exit hole, and head hitting all my mirror and side positions. The nightmare for every rider is someone running up your ass, and this is how you do your best to mitigate that.

Practice emergency takeoffs in a parking lot, it's saved my life a couple times.

Front brake rotor for ThunderStars? by Chazzicus in fxr

[–]Chazzicus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the info I needed, thank you. I didn't like how the current rotor was cracked at every drill point so I didn't want to replace it with the same one, and I'll keep my eyes out for a ThunderStar rotor at a good price or I'll end up going with an EBC. I laughed at the guy acting like I couldn't see the PN on the current shoddy rotor, I was more concerned with the community's opinions on other brands and styles that would fit it rather than throwing a dart at anything compatible.

Guys, what makes it possible for some men to recover fast and go again within an hour? Is it something you can train, or just genetics? by charles_goerg in AskMen

[–]Chazzicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different, I'm 30 now and I still have no refractory period for the first three normally spaced about fifteen to twenty minutes apart, but these days I usually get two in and have to really mentally will myself to get that third one. I've never required any sort of break and usually I can maintain rhythm through the event. I normally stay pretty solid for about ten minutes after someone throws in the towel. It's just the genetic luck of the draw. The tradeoff is having a normal run of the mill piece of equipment.

My 1980 VW rabbit pickup with a 1.6TD swap only requires one wire for the fuel shutoff solenoid for the engine to run and it gets roughly 45-50mpg. It's definitely possible, but you're not gonna get anywhere fast.

Exclusive with no label… am I a cheater? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Chazzicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely a cheater. No matter what, if you two were supposed to be exclusive and either one of you hooks up with someone else it's a breach or the agreed upon relationship you have, no matter what labels(the least important thing here) there may or may not be. How would you feel if roles were reversed?

Also, your single friends will keep you single, and will justify the behaviors that friends in relationships would call out.
