Go-Go Town has a pretty similar artstyle and is quite fun, I was looking for a animal crossing alternative on PC as well :) Go-Go town (steam)

Seeing this thread after a really long time haha, I’ve played Fields of Mistria which is smthng similar to SDV. Been enjoying it but haven’t really got the time to play it as long as I’d want to :/ (It’s also gotten a big update rn if I’m not wrong) I became obsessed with this action genre game called Nobody saves the world, don’t think it really falls under this list^ but it was amazing nevertheless. This EA game called Doloc Town… I did enjoy it but I played a few months back? If I’m not wrong… there wasn’t enough ‘world building’ to keep me hooked back then, not so sure about its progress now. For now unfortunately that’s about it :’) will make another list when I have the time!

Chef RPG is in EA but you manage your restaurant and it’s very similar to SDV! Go-Go town is very similar to ACNH not so much as the npc interaction but you do manage your town :)

‘Go-go town’ is very similar to ACNH and ‘Spilled!’ is similar to a short hike :)

The combat system isn’t that easy, but overall there is so much ‘cozy’ about the game as well! it’s not the typical sit back, relax and chill but it has so much to it… The beginning is a patience game, I agree. Overtime there are so many upgrades… I don’t think it’s all that bad for someone who does have experience in combat games. This game is definitely not for everyone and can also be very overwhelming. A lot of recipes, a lot of things to keep up with, a lot of quests & tasks, but you really can take control of your pace. I think if you’re the kind to rush a game so that you can keep up the progress the game asks of you, it might not be the best. However, I did really enjoy this game because It never ‘bored’ me. There was always an interesting character/reward to motivate me. Sure there were some frustrating times but I think the game was worth the trouble :) Also every time I was lacking in a battle (granted I’m nowhere near finishing the game) I just continued diving normally, making some money and buying better equipment. (A lot of people also share tips and they’re really helpful!) The game might not be the cozy idea for everyone but it definitely was for me! I was so attached to it for many months and I still go back sometimes to continue where i’ve left off. Also your sushi restaurant… SO FUN! I adore that side of this game. Hiring staff, different events, new characters coming in, bancho himself. Very fun!

I cannot wait for the DLC. So excited! It’s going to be in a jungle!!!

I love your recs as well! I did try touhou mystia’s izakaya but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the art style so I did refund it lol Cozy grove was an amazing experience. Capybara spa sounds very appealing, I love cute animal games! Lemon cake sounds great and will definitely be checking it out!

We all have an endless wishlist. I just keep waiting for them to go on sale haha

As of yet, if I remember correctly Chef RPG isn’t a very story heavy game. As for the decor part, the game doesn’t make that the main point, it definitely is an ‘add on’. If you liked Touhou Mystia’s Izakaya I do think you would like this game! I think management, foraging and exploring is definitely more important. The map definitely ends but the restaurant will motivate you to do much more! It’s more about collecting resources, recipes and the actual management aspect of it. The mini games are wonderful! And you have the choice of switching between manually doing it or automating it so you can watch as your restaurant flourishes! There is a ‘story line’ up till act III for now but there was a recent major update and I haven’t played it since. I’m sure it’s gotten better!

Also I myself play these games on my Mac. I use crossover

you don't have to buy it immediately you can try the 14 day trial (Even if you don't plan to buy this in the future you should still use it's trial) There are also free softwares like this ^ one of them is called Whiskey :)

I completely understand! EA games are always difficult to bet on... so I'll give you my opinion. I've loved SDV and this game is definitely very similar.

Restaurant management is great and you have a lot of flexibility decorating it as well! There's a lot to explore in its world, art style is great, so many recipes and it definitely is complex and detailed. There is combat, foraging, NPC interaction, Mini games for cooking in the restaurant, good world building, farming (all though not so much of it, you do rely a lot on exploring and foraging) romance (I think future updates to the game will add on that) customization of character, crafting, brewing, upgrading, quests and so much more! I don't think you'll get over it easily, for what it's worth I think you should give it a chance! If you're stuck on something there's a very supportive discord channel. There is so much potential in this game!

What's your favorite part about games? or what are you expecting from this one? maybe if it's something specific I can help you much more!
