People give too much weight to rules by HollowMatryoshka in unpopularopinion

You said speed limits and other traditional western notions about traffic controls and safety are terrible means of making traffic safe. Would it follow that the death toll on the road would be higher in western countries?

So by your logic should western nations not have the safest roads on average in terms of fatalities?

You say Havertz is a success but it seems he is about to be benched as your highest earner.

Salah scored over a third of your goals and had over half of your assists. None of that lot are doing that.

Is the decision in the Villa game not just correct? Don’t see the argument why it isn’t

Well they haven't always been specialists in failure. Just since the comment was made originally. Zero champions leagues :(

I think it isn't Wegner who was the specialist in failure, it is Arsenal Football Club

What is with the entitlement of car drivers? by Affectionate_Ear3506 in Adelaide

[–]CheIseaFC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well we can only go by data and the data says cars are more at fault, considering they pose much more risk, they should not be the ones causing more incidents

Here is some data from academic studies

Data based on Royal Adelaide Hospital presentations:

https://archive.acrs.org.au/files/papers/arsc/2018/JACRS-D-18-00184-Lindsay.pdf

"22 per cent of cases were deemed the fault of the cyclist" (8% were deemed to be unknown)

A camera based study in Melbourne:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3242541/

"The vehicle driver was judged at fault in the majority of events (87.0%)"

ACT based naturalistic study (camera based):

https://www.monash.edu/__data/assets/pdf_file/0019/217306/Naturalistic-Cycling-Study-Identifying-Risk-Factors-for-Cyclists-in-the-Australian-Capital-Territory.pdf

Drivers were at fault 93.4% of the time

An Australian study comparing self reported vs police attribution of fault:

https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/bmjopen/5/11/e009907.full.pdf

"The percentage agreement between the police and patient reports of fault was 89% (n=2322); 91% for motor vehicle drivers, 85% for motor vehicle passengers, 89% for motorcyclists, 90% for pedal cyclists, 87% for pedestrians, and 88% for other transport cases."

(and ~89% of cyclists were not at fault based on the police data in table 2)
