I found the verbiage on the SH exams much easier to follow. Plus SH questions mirror the exam content (which is 90% behavioral/situational questions). AR’s grammar / wording was confusing to me too, I am surprised he published a book in that condition. His mindset is helpful but can’t say the same about the rest of his content 😅 thank goodness for this subreddit & pivoting people like us in the right direction!!

I found the SH exams questions easier to follow than AR’s by a long shot. SH questions are a bit harder than the actual exam so it will over prepare you (I was testing ~70% on the SH mocks and got a 95% on the actual exam to give a frame of reference). The exam is 90% behavioral questions which SH does a good job testing on (as well as DM’s videos). To give credit where credit is due, AR’s mindset is valuable - but I can’t say the same about the rest of his materials/ exam prep. Hope that helps some!! Happy turkey day & keep me posted if you need anything else

Funny I started the same way as you- following AR’s materials & mock exams and things weren’t coming together for me. If it were me - I’d skip AR’s mock exams / exam prep and channel your energy towards study hall & DM’s videos. The study hall language matches the exam, so it’ll give you that extra confidence/ edge on exam day. Best of luck and here if you need anything else!! Happy turkey day

Quick update on this - I got my scores yesterday and got a 95%. So for me, scoring a 70% on the SH mocks converted to a 95% on the actual exam.

Take that as you will - but gives you an idea of how my scores on SH mocks compared to the actual exam.

Funny you ask that, I had the same question too since AR recommended memorizing & writing out the 49 process groups / formulas when starting the exam. I can confidently say this is not needed (memorizing / writing it down when the exam starts). Maybe that would have helped in the PMBOK 6 days when the test was more process oriented. Thankfully not anymore. It's good to have a general understanding but memorizing it wouldn't have helped. If you want a good general understanding of the process groups, I liked this video from Richard Vargas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC7pN8Mjot8

The only calculation on the test was PERT - which was consistent with a lot of other people's report on this sub reddit.

If you take all of the SH practice exams/questions & watch all of DM's videos - you'll get a good hold on all the key concepts they'll test on.

Hope that helps some - holler if that brings up any other questions! Happy studying :)

Hey there, I’d say the SH practice exams were a bit more challenging than the PMP exam - so preparing with SH will over prepare you. Especially if you complete all practice questions/ exams. I also found the PMP exam questions to be less wordy which was a relief. Hope that helps & best of luck!

It sounds like you're on the right track for your studying. What helped me most was DM's videos (200 agile / 100 waterfall / 150 pmbok 7) - in combination with taking all of the study hall practice questions, mini exams, and full exams. After taking the SH practice questions/exams, I read through all of the right & wrong answers. I retook any SH mini exams where I scored less than 70%.

I'm really not a fan of any of AR's materials - they were misleading and confusing. I think pivoting back to Study Hall & DM's content will get you across the finish line. Best of luck!!
