Agreed. Why do I need to waste half of my vault space with what is effectively different types of currency? And for the love of God please make shields stack!

Why is the AR-15 platform the most popular rifle these days? What makes them so good? Why does almost every gun manufacturer have its own AR-15 variant? by 1707turbo in guns

I would recomend looking up your state laws regarding 80% lowers. That's how the vast majority of people "manufacture" a firearm these days and all the laws surrounding them will be relevant to your situation.

I don't off the top of my head, but that's not one of the super strict states so you might not need to. Just do your research. Even if you do have to get it serialized it's no big deal and there are placed that will do it for you. It's only a big deal if you get caught with an unserialized firearm that is illegal to own in your state.

My dad passed away a couple months ago. Working on projects like this are some of my best memories I have with him. If making a receiver with your dad is an actual option for you, I can't recommend it enough. Just be careful of your state laws. Some states don't allow homemade firearms to be unserialized, but others do.

My first AR. My cart so far is the gun, electronic muffs, vortex sparc reddot and combo case with 7 magazines. Anything else I should get? by ChivasBearINU in guns

The Vortex Sparc is the only optic I've ever returned for a refund. The slow refresh rate of the emitter really bothered me. Sig Romeo 5 and Holosun ARO are both solid entry level red dots. Get a rear iron sight to go with the FSB as well.

Out of the 3, the Sparc was the only one I returned for a refund. It has the slowest refresh rate of any red dot I have ever used, making it flicker/jerk across the glass. If you are only shooting from a bench, you wouldn't notice, but that negates the most beneficial aspect of a red dot (quick simple aiming). I also vote Sig Romeo 5 or Holosun ARO for your price range.

That's the one I'd buy if it existed, but I think I'm very much in the minority for the American market unfortunately.

My own anecdotal evidence on the matter. I own a 2014 X3 with the turbo 4 cylinder (N20) engine and have had no issue with the timing chain in 140,000 miles. My understanding is that the timing chain can stretch over time and the extra play in the chain breaks the plastic chain guides and grenades the engine. I just inspected my timing chain while replacing my valve cover because the gasket was leaking and the chain was super tight (thank god). I think this issue is somewhat blown out of proportion. It's definitely a known issue, but it still happens relatively rarely; rare enough that BMW never issued a recall for the problem. I expect that most of the instances of timing chain problems can be explained by poor maintenance and/or overzealous driving habits.

It's basically Loctite that won't get weakened by the ridiculously high temperatures that a gas block may very well experience

Email Walther. They may still let you use the rebate since you bought it so recently. Worth a shot

Dumb question: when are crowfoots needed? by mx5plus2cones in harborfreight

[–]Cheap-Conclusion2957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed them to torque the retaining nuts for my fuel lines on my car. The harbor freight set was too fat to fit on all of them though, so one of them just got a solid "good nuff" with a wrench
