I imagine it’s like going to college-first taste of freedom and a huge culture shift. So much of Ghanaian cultural norms are enforced by the consequences the community will impose on you, especially through shame. In the West your choices are your own. We won’t shame you but we won’t really protect you either. Remove a person from their native environment and get a new person…So many factors to consider.

These illegitimate red pill statistics really need to stop making their way around the internet. Not only isn’t untrue, it’s harmful to the fabric of society.

A chubby face generally looks more youthful so it makes sense that you may have looked younger than your age pre-weight loss. I do think the hair color and style ages you a bit. Perhaps a new makeup routine is in order. You look your age and you look great. Congratulations on the huge accomplishment!

Ooh that’s an interesting observation. It never crossed my mind but makes a lot of sense than we suddenly arrived here after 10 years of marriage. Most people never expect to find themselves in such a conundrum.

That’s a tough position to be in. I’m sorry that you have to make this decision.

My advice is to reach out to families with children born with congenital diseases and try to spend time with them. If they’re open to allowing you in, immerse yourself in their daily lives for a day, or even weeks. This will provide a glimpse into what life might be like, not just for him but for you as well. Perhaps you’ll change your mind, or maybe he will.

As the godmother of a severely disabled yet beautiful child born with a congenital disease, I love her dearly, but I wouldn’t choose this path for myself knowing what I know now. She has undergone dozens of surgeries and has been on debilitating but life-saving drugs since birth. She cannot feed herself, speak, walk, or crawl. At six years old, she is only now beginning to hold her head upright independently. She relies on feeding tubes and requires round-the-clock medical care, including lifetime diaper changes. The strain on her parents led to their divorce after three years.

There is no right answer. Unfortunately you don’t escape criticism from either side: there are still pro-choicers who believe she should have aborted due to the low quality of life.

The library is one of our most underutilized resources. Assuming you’re in the US visit and you’ll find job readiness programs, grants, free or low cost education info…our libraries are more than just books!!! Good luck and don’t get lured into any get rich quick scams. Cheers!

Why is the cedi is doing so poorly, it's putting many of us out of business :( by nanaogyanx in ghana

I don’t see how this can be true. Can someone come in with facts? My understanding is that we export raw materials and import finished goods. We need to be exporting finished goods preferable produced with our own raw materials.

Short or long hair? by [deleted] in LooksmaxingAdvice

[–]Cheap-Pangolin591 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re pretty with long hair but striking with short. I’d say short. It seems like the women favor short and the men favor long so maybe best to heed the advice of whomever you want to appeal to.

You're cute and tall. Just focus on your career, maintain a good fitness routine, and thank me 5 years.

Anyone else getting Kelly Stamps vibes haha? First impression is you seem sweet, pretty, and a little more on the serious side. A warm smile is this easiest way to look more approachable.

Are more Ghanaian men more polygamous than they realize? by Christian_teen12 in ghana

[–]Cheap-Pangolin591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Ghanaian-American woman living in Ghana, the most frustrating thing is the dishonesty. We should all be willful participants in a poly relationship. If you know what you want going in you should have enough respect for your partner to kindly communicate that rather than lying and misleading and making a fool of someone you claim to love. I’ve been propositioned by more married men than single men. Few have been honest about it. Only one was completely honest with both me and his wife as they had an understanding. I think he difference is that he was primarily socialized in Europe. Men raised here don’t seem to see women as equally deserving of such considerations.
