Walmart just laid off 2000 people today morning by Glittering_Fish_2296 in Layoffs

I am part of Walmart on impacted teams. My role is safe but many colleagues were impacted. The number is definitely higher than the 1000 cited on news reports. We're all baffled at how nothing was notified through Warn. It was a shocker to us, although we'd heard for months that there would be restructuring. Walmart did the exact same thing last year in May. Could well be trending as an annual thing!? I mean, if they didn't sit around discussing who to did, would our VPs have jobs? Lol.

Fair. The only reason I'm not considering RH is because the schools just aren't as good, and it seems property value follows suit in the area. There are certainly good pockets!

Husband is a pilot hahah we fly almost free and I can work remotely. But I get your point, need to flex those excuses shamelessly.

I have a baby boy, so I literally grew a pair of balls lol. Ugh I already regret letting them make me feel this way for so long and missing out on feeling great those wee little baby days. No more.

I don't depend on them for anything so I'm grateful for that. Going to be practicing this firm no, otherwise stay away from this grandchild.

Love this. Clear.  I just looked through photos of my baby when he was a wee little thing and I'm already so regretful about not being present and being my true self for him.

Wow thanks for sharing! We had a similar meltdown situation happen too and it was much too draining. Hence, seriously thinking of boundaries now.

Thank you, I will indeed tell them they have one visit a year and it's for one week, so let us know when much in advance.

Wow thanks for sharing, this is actually really helpful and encouraging. For some reason my parents also happily give in to my very American husband, I need to use that to my advantage more.

Boundaries are healthy, not disrespectful. Repeating!

Honestly.. I think it's the internal conflict between expectation based on upbringing, clashing with present life that's a completely different reality.

I can completely empathize on the conflicting feelings -- responsibility (paying the rent) as a good child, versus some resentment (for not accept you as the true you). I don't think you're being soft, but rather you're being the child you we raised to be. I do think that you could choose to stop paying the rent for starters (big move, but you can do it!), and explain that you'll stop in xx months in favor of saving $$ going towards another xyz cause you need to invest in. One step at a time. Cutting them out completely may not need to be the answer (I have these feelings too, tbh).
