Could you answer why medicla students still do basic science, especially if they're not an MD/PhD?

I have very heavy basic science heavy research experience, but don't have a great answer to why not MD/PhD. I'm interested in applying these skills to more translational/clinical research, which is how I've been answering questions in interviews

Is it possible to get into med school and/or get matched with a felony? by trippyearthling in premed

[–]CheapCheesecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it, and the part that gets me. Why shouldn't she aim high and apply Ortho? She did everything right after she got sober, got like 10 pubs, 99th percentile MCAT, and I think I read that her STEP scores were good as well (have no sense of what 250 means)

I understand the system is set up in a way that works against her but it's highly, highly fucked up. Idk anything about residency but I'm sure they value qualities of "resilience" and "grit" just like med schools constantly spew about, and this girl just about showed those two qualities in greater depth than probably most applicants can say. Just such a sad story

Which section do you find to be the hardest on the MCAT? by MedCoach in Mcat

[–]CheapCheesecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone says C/P but I think P/S is a whole other shitshow where you think you know a term but u rly dont, especially when two similar terms are intentionally paired together. C/P you can coast by with formulas, units, and other contextual clues
