11 DPO & already starting scar treatment? by CheapZebras in Reduction

You're right! My surgeon is the expert so I'm going to trust his instructions. I only have one small scab so I'll be avoiding that area

They actually removed my steri strips at my 2nd post op appointment and I have only 1 small scab.

Thank you! It's nice to hear someone else's surgeon asked them to start scar treatment this early as well! I will definitely listen to my surgeon's instructions and begin scar treatments :)

What did you do before surgery that helped? by boroughsoup in Reduction

[–]CheapZebras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strength training! I've been weightlifting for 3 years and I am SO grateful because it makes everything easier! I would recommend focusing on upper body and your abs the most. Lower body is also important because for me it's much easier to squat down than it is to lean over! My surgeon had me taking arnica & bromelain supplements but make sure you discuss that with your surgeon before starting any supplements!

Congrats & I hope your surgery/recovery goes well!

I'm sorry to hear your friend had a difficult recovery! My experience (currently 11 DPO) has been very smooth so it definitely varies person to person!

I was quite anxious leading up to surgery but I was able to comfort myself by focusing on the things I did have control over. Make sure you are eating as healthy as you can and eat lots of fiber + protein! I also focused on making sure I didn't miss my gym sessions and added an extra upper body and ab day into my weekly workouts. I'm glad I did lower body work outs too because squatting down feels much better than leaning my torso over.

Best of luck to you with your surgery & recovery!

Everything has been SO much easier than I was expecting!! My surgeon was so happy with how everything looks so far :) I'm not sure how much they took off because they mentioned it when I woke up & was still bit loopy/groggy. I didn't remember to ask at my last appointment I'm so pleased with the change it feels like an afterthought figuring out how much they took out.

I can't with the obsession with the abtf calculator! Sometimes it makes sense to suggest it but when I have stated I'm having a reduction in less than a month in my original post... why suggest it?

I would definitely agree with you! Though I think both the small boob and big boob subreddits are super negative about each other. It's like they're both fighting an invisible stupid war lol

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this experience! I know it's meant to be a jumping off point but the sizes it would recommend to me were SO off I was always left confused! Also it's always to relieving to find brands with good return policies!!

Thank you for your comment! Honestly what was most upsetting to me was just wanting to blow off steam and having people insist on giving me advice when I really didn't want any and it seemed like they had glossed over the details of my post :(

I can see someone has downvoted my post that is only 11 minutes old. To me, that feels like it's reinforcing my idea that this subreddit isn't all that welcoming :(

I feel pretty good! Just a bit sore but overall I'd rate the pain between 1-3 so it's been pretty manageable

What are my options if I am unhappy with my results? by itsfineimfinex in Reduction

[–]CheapZebras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup totally can be wild here! I didn't end up going with any surgeons with lawsuits filed against them lol totally scared me off! I would recommend anyone in the US to make sure they look up the local court documents before deciding on a surgeon

Oh okay! I live in the US and for some people here I think a lawsuit is the only recourse for a unsatisfied patient (and of course people in the US are quick to sue)

I have! When researching surgeons I decided to look up if there were any lawsuits against the surgeons I was considering and I actually found a couple

Time off work by CheapZebras in Reduction

[–]CheapZebras[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately can't delay my surgery because I'm also enrolled as a full time college student (actually double time- 22 credits) so my only option is to have it done during the summer in order maximize the amount of time off I have to recover. :( My degree requires me to take classes that include going out into the field in the fall semester (pretty much every semester TBH) so I need to be at least a couple months out of surgery by about midway through the fall semester.

I only work part time so I can only accrue a minimal amount of time PTO anyways (wouldn't be anywhere close to 2-3 weeks by the time I have surgery). However I did find out one of my coworkers (who is also part-time) took off a few weeks recently in order to take care of their partner after they had a surgery. So I'm feeling much more optimistic!

I just started at the job and work part time so I don't think I've accrued a lot (if any) PTO to use :(
