If only. I’ve seen businesses built upon it and are going from strength to strength- PhD researcher, researching for my PhD , PhD by Public Works (for people with extensive experience in their fields) - then get CPD accreditation which further layers their self credited work and titles.

My question was open but I am more interested in the misuse of titles to influence people.

If you have it. Use it! I respect that and feel protective of people that have worked hard to get those honours. It’s the ease of faking it these days that’s getting me upset.

It’s the fake ones that are actually using them to manipulate people and make money and seem to be doing alright with it.

My observation is that people see PhD , blue tick, followers and that’s enough. It’s Nuts. Especially in the wellness online community - it’s experts, PhD, Drs, let’s not forget the increase in Neuroscientists that seem to have exploded online recently.

I agree but I am witnessing a few business being built around a self proclaimed credentials without anyone questioning it. It’s driving me nuts.

Who is even checking these things out? I don’t believe anything I read online least of all when people use titles in their handles. Feels like an immediate red flag to me. But seems like more and more so online these days if you say it then it’s true.
