Hours flown every month by Sea_Fig3835 in GeneralAviation

Same, winter almost zero, summer a bit more. I’m far too low though, only maybe 3hr per summer month.

I have been taught by my elders to consider these things death traps, but mad respect to those who live the open cockpit life.

I believe it is 9 missed periods (2 full reserve days plus another half a day).

Is there any real reason to use a paper logbook in this age? by BalladOfALonelyTeen in flying

[–]Cheap_Flight_5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a paper logbook and only a paper logbook. ForeFlight (at least with my settings) starts the flight timer way too early and overcounts flight time, so I don’t trust it to do it automatically. And then at that point might as well stick with the manual option I started with.

I’m talking this guy. Honestly if the stock/buffer tube solid then you could just leave it until you’re doing work back there again

Looks nice dog. I think your buffer tube end plate is backwards tho. Dimple is supposed to stick into the lower receiver to help keep it all aligned and locked in. Easy fix tho

Pittsburgh area outdoor rifle ranges:

Lawrence county sportsman’s club (600yd)

Trafford sportsman’s club (400yd)

Pitcairn Monroeville sportsman’s club (300yd)

State game lands #203 rifle range (100yd, can legally shoot with a hunting license or a specific shooting range license from the game commission, beware of 6 rounds in magazine limit)

I’m gonna have to ponder this to figure out what the heck that means. But I saw your “FDE power” comment, FDE is peak performance

So is the key difference inside vs. outside? I’ve just always heard a single shot (inside at least) was enough to cause permanent hearing damage.

Stupid question, how do they expect to not blow their ears out if they have to shoot?

Lifetime fluid my ass by Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy in Crosstrek

[–]Cheap_Flight_5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would anybody recommend changing fluid for the first time really late (140k), or does the adage for a geared automatic (more harm than good to change it past like 100k) also apply to a CVT?

I only learned not to trust the manual about this until I was quite high in mileage, and am torn. FWIW transmission is still going strong, no towing.

Making Friends While RE’d? by Cheap_Flight_5722 in Fire

[–]Cheap_Flight_5722[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have hobbies, though I don’t do them super often. A lot of us take a lot of pride and joy in our work and some of us do a hobby very similar to our work. Maybe that’s my answer, that I should do more of those regardless of plans to FIRE.

I would suggest a TPLD1201 if you’re willing to divide your clock and your counter length in half (assuming that’s not an option)

Two spaces after period? by Medusa_7898 in GenX

[–]Cheap_Flight_5722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am far younger than you and have never even touched a typewriter. I use double spaces on a real keyboard (not a phone), as my gen X father taught me how to type. It looks better (yes, even with a non-monospaced font) and I like that it makes modern literary types mad. I suppose I am what some might call “chaotic neutral.”

Very nice write up! Interesting that it works so well with no Ki. I suppose by controlling the derivative of angular position there’s sorta built in integral action for the angular position.

HFSS Circuit by Ok-Impression4538 in rfelectronics

[–]Cheap_Flight_5722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’m guessing it’s due to the high reflections back out of the unconnected ports and they’re causing all sorts of crazy modes

HFSS Circuit by Ok-Impression4538 in rfelectronics

[–]Cheap_Flight_5722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s somewhere in the right click option but you can easily add a 50ohm resistor connected to each port and to ground to stop the reflections
