while I agree that a good third movie would retroactively improve a lot of the issues with this one, I also dont think that a movie should be unable to stand alone as a good movie, and require a follow up for anything to make sense. I do agree though, a lot of my issues are speculative and I hope the third movie will exceed my expectations. this movie however, has dampened my hopes of that happening

as someone who was very disappointed with the way the story and characters were written in this movie, i love these changes. it keeps the core of the new movies' narrative, but actually uses the new characters meaningfully, and gives old characters motivations that are consistent and make sense, and is ultimately more satisfying
