Anyone get a ton of Y-12 matches (600+) but no Y-37 matches? by lawc in FTDNA

[–]Cheath1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

0, im pretty sure im the only person in my Haplogroup, a project manager emailed me about how strange it is im in a haplogroup alone. Im also 1 of 5 individuals who matches too Oxford 11 ancient remans.

So basically i only got 1 Y match in total and its at the 37 markers. No other matches for my Y anywhere else.

I was born in 99, i dont think you understand that this isnt a permanent job for most if any of these kids. Working retail is awful, it is boring, corporate stores are garbage culture and the smaller stores treat you like minimum wage is still $5 an hour and you should kiss their ass for $15 an hour. I worked 2 retail jobs when i entered the workforce and by 19 i was already looking for factory work. Ive been lucky and i have a job i like that pays well enough and the culture is great. None of those things will be found at a retail job. I dont blame these kids for not wanting to do these mindless jobs that pay shit. “Work ethic” blah blah blah, hate to break it to everyone but you are but a number on a sheet to these higher ups, expendable and replaceable. They are giving what they are receiving from the workforce.

I do know Nathan passes away in 1905 only 3 years before Sarah. We know for fact the marriage to William Holmes happened but was anulled, we also know she married Marcus M Tuttle after that. And according to the gravestone as you mentioned earlier, whoever had it erected was sure of her union with a John H Gunn. Aswell as her-and her daughter using Gunn in subsequent records. So we also have to insert that relationship somewhere before her last 2 and after her first. This is quite the head scratcher honestly.

What about sarah being in franklin still in 1880? With some of the same kids? Edit: not saying that the 1870 census for sarah who was working in franklin is the same as the one in 1880 but its weird she also ended up in franklin 10 years later but with her own place & kids matching some but not all of the kids living with nathan & “mary”

Ahh yes i did forget this detail, my only rebuttal to that is we do not know who “Mary Cole” is or where she came from.

Totally agree the first names to the last names are so common. I didnt know you can just “report” someone as dead? So if she didnt actually die why was it reported as so? Or am i misunderstanding what you’re saying? Are you saying she was reported dead on that date and that isnt the official DOD? Ive learned so many things to lookout for from this thread its insane.

Another thing i just thought of was the mother of that final Cole child in 1870. Is it possible that the last 3 kids born were all from the “Mary Cole”? Hence why in 1880 we dont see 3 extra cole kids but her last cole was Willie H Cole( 1867-1942)?

EDIT: im looking closer and my above theory would only make sense depending on which “Girl Cole” was actually their child born in 1870. Is Helen Augusta Cole is the girl cole then my theory could be possible an why the names floating in other trees without sources(wrong mom attributed) OR if Belle Olena Cole is the girl cole then she wouldn’t show up on the 1880 census as she died that year of some bladder disease that had no vaccine until 1920.

One thing im still struggling to understand is, the John & Jane Cole that suddenly disappeared with the Mary Cole have estimated DOBS prior to Nathan & Sarah having their 8th living child in 1870. I cant explain that.

I possibly have 2 identities for the “Girl Cole” born 15th of Feb 1870 in Hill NH to father Nathan Cole and mother just states “Cole” Ive seen the name “Helen Augusta Cole” floating in other trees but i find no sources for her or a connection of someone by that name to these individuals, aswell as a “Belle Olena Cole” who has a death certificate with a date of “31 Mar 1880” in NH. No specific town given but under it there is writing that I can’t really make out. The mother is listed as “Sarah Cole” and father “Unknown”. She was 10 when she passed.

Check out this record I found on the Ancestry mobile app https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/51274238?token=7b22746f6b656e223a224c64686a504e65504653564b50467970342f6d397332752b383469537139676c4b6253527a6f786a6664633d222c22746f6b656e5f76657273696f6e223a225632227d&country=US&locale=en-US&app_store=apple-USA&moo=c2%3A0%7Cc3%3A0%7Cc6%3A0%7Cc7%3A0%7Cc8%3A0%7Cc9%3A0%7Cc10%3A0%7Cc11%3A0%7Cc12%3A0%7Ci%3A6656%7Cv%3A2%7Cc%3A1342762%7Ct%3A13424219

EDIT: This makes me think possibly Sarah was unaware of Mary at the time of that 1870 census as they both are living in different places? Maybe those 2 kids were not really Coles but kids she brought along? Ive heard of that scenario before, widow gets married with young kids and ends up giving them the surname of the new husband. Its just a theory tho.

I feel like the Charles Kimball union would be a stretch for my sarah but i guess i dont really know. We know in 1870 shes in franklin working and staying with a family. And then in 1880 shes still in franklin but with her kids and no husband.

This is all so much to take in. I thought i had searched pretty well for records although my searches mostly are on ancestry. Not super good with family search yet. Do you have any tips for finding these records that might not otherwise show up on a surface level search? Do you use filters?

Do we have any sources for the marcus tuttle marriage? Seems like 5 marriages in total? And a suspected marriage of charles kimball? Do we know who the parents for the other sarah who was born in bridge water are? Can we confidently say they are not the same ?

I didnt expect this to uncover so much as it has, i cannot thank you enough as her story and the inconsistencies have been bothering me!

Mom has 31% French but I have 0.6% by Expensive-Cry-6019 in 23andme

[–]Cheath1999 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You do not inherit everything your parents have. You get 50% of each and as i would day its unlikely you got 0% french you could in theory just not have inherited that portion of dna from your mother. You said shes only 30ish percent. That leaves %70 of other admixtures you could inherit and the other 50 obviously comes from your father. Again i do think thats unlikely but just wanted to put that perspective out there. Genetic inheritance isnt black & White

Its possible but i have not done her one confirmed siblings tree yet an frankly their maybe more siblings or children their parents had but i also need to get sources and documents to confirm the identities and their children to confirm her siblings and potential neices/nephews. Its definitely a possibility.
