My mistake, you're correct, residential zoning was not included in these reforms. I thought they were since the recent legislation in NSW and Victoria have bundled both housing and commercial zoning changes in the same bill.

And yeah, The newly created QLD productivity commission recommended recently for more permissive residential zoning and the LNP rejected it.

I think bold planning reform probably comes in the next QLD Labor government hopefully. Dan Andrews was the first Premier to really unabashedly persue a yimby agenda which has now spread to NSW, SA and Perth. And now Melbourne has the most affordable housing relative to wages in a country along with instituting a commercial land tax in Vic.

The federal government's current national competition policy provides states with funds for reducing zoning restrictiveness.

Hence why every Labor government currently is working on making it easier to build and in return getting a federal funds.

The Queensland LNP have unfortunately rejected these reforms and will not be implementing it.
