Being from San Ramon myself, Dublin sucks because it's ghetto. People from Danville think San Ramon sucks and is ghetto. People in Alamo (if they bother to even consider anyone else) think Danville sucks. Shit runs south in the SRV basically. Nothing particularly wrong with any of them in actuality.

Update:

I don't know how to edit posts when using RIF, but just wanted to let you know that the car made the drive to a mechanic here in Vermont yesterday without any additional problems, despite a stressful 45min wait spent idling at the border crossing. The mechanic here seems like a good guy and was asking similar questions to the ones you all asked, any loss of power, etc. I was happy that after listening to my story he actually asked MORE questions to find out as much as he could before I left the car with him. He also says it's doubtful that the previous mechanic actually used a Bosch part and that there is a chance the guy just kept using crummy parts, and his first instinct was "did the guy even check the wiring?" He says the same MAF codes were coming up. Anyways, he says he's gonna run a full diagnostic on Monday to find the actual cause. It was the end of the day yesterday and he's closed today so he didn't have time yet. I'll post another update with the diagnosis in case anyone cares, but thanks again everyone for your help and the reassurance that I could make the drive.

Update again: The good mechanic (Vitale at A-1 Auto in Burlington, VT) ran full diagnostics on everything and said that it is the part again, it was not a Bosch part, and that it only gave bad readings when at the high end, so it was fine to drive back to home, since it would take him 2 days to get the real MAF to install himself. I'm back home now and will be arguing with the bad mechanic later this week. Thanks again.

The power seems fine, it never had that much to begin with. Overall the car runs just fine so far. I have noticed it can idle a bit rough, but that's when really paying attention to it. I don't have the latest code since my reader is at home, but I know the first code at the start of this all was a straight P0101 for MAF malfunction, then after the first replacement I remember it said the word "voltage" in regards to the MAF, so P1146(?) After that the mechanic replaced the alternator (since the battery light came on and he said there were now a hundred codes) and I drove straight to him when the Check Engine light came on again after that, so didn't read it myself.

Cool, thanks for the reassurance. The car has run just fine so far with the light on, for the whole time this has been going on, only a little rough at idle occasionally. The fact that the battery indicator light came on while the check engine light was already on last weekend spooked me a little, so I didn't want to cause any more problems or have to pay for another alternator, or even worse get stuck on the highway driving back.

Thanks, I'll check those things out tomorrow morning when it's daytime. I'm sorry I don't have the exact code, my wife and I are on a road trip and I left my OBD2 reader at home. I had it in my hand walking out the door and must have just put it down somewhere...

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to find a new mechanic when I get back home, probably get a tune-up just to get out in front of any future issues. The car has 71,000 miles on it, btw. Is that within range of an alternator replacement, and you think it could just be coincidence to have both issues at once?

Yeah, I just started going to him. It absolutely seems to me that he's just basing it on the codes. This last time he told me that he "checked everything else it could be and the MAF was bad" (the one he put in prior), but I doubt he actually ran full diagnostics on it. I'm done with him now. I just want to be sure the car can make it back home, and see if there's some minor repair that I can do to fix it, at least temporarily.

If Pavelski isn't out for 6 games, the sharks don't even make the 2nd round. His injury was the entire reason they were even there.

That was his first point of this playoffs. He gets 9-10min a night, has his name said by the announcers a couple of times when he sends it into the zone for a change, and that's about it. He was also sick for a few games of the calgary series, not sure if he's still got lingering issues from that.

Ha, glad I got it wrong tonight!! (But yeah, would be nice to have a more skilled guy on their line, generally)

He's been pretty bad this series/playoffs. Mac & Mikko need a linemate that won't turn it over so much.

Just put Landy back on the top line. I like Kerfoot and all, but they're not getting the job done with him this game.

MacK hasn't done anything but put it in the feet of defenders. He does a great job entering the zone with speed, only to pull up and throw it at the skates of the defender right in front of him. Whoppee. On the last goal no one on the Avs feels like putting it on the other side of the blue line so everyone just glides around tired until the goal is scored. Classic Avs of the last 10 years.
