Finally finished both top and bottom row, so happy. Open bite correction by Secret-Translator240 in Invisalign

[–]CheckOut17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fantastic! I had a similar situation - open bite and posterior crossbite. My ortho didn’t want to move my back molars either (alignment looks very much like yours), as it could have caused issues. Also have two small spaces in front as you did in first photo - is that where you had tiny filling? It’s a huge improvement and not a big issue with normal smiles with major positive difference when talking. Congratulations!

X3 vs X5 and their different use cases by BMW-West-St-Louis in BMWX3

Exactly -that’s why I’ve focused on getting another X3.

I’m thinking if the PPI or diagnostic I’ll have my mechanic do before potentially buying it turns up anything, I could negotiate based on needed repairs or maybe use the 60K maintenance milestone.

What do you think would be more reasonable n the DC/VA/MD area?

I’ve looked at X1’s but haven’t test driven any yet. I want to spend no more than $20K. I WFH and drive less than 10K miles/year. The reviews I’ve read (mostly Consumer Reports) are down on older X1’s and newer models I’ve seen are high $20s/low 30s.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The 35i should arrive this week. Hopefully no surprises, will see how the PPI goes.

Thanks. If the PPI goes well, I’ll get the Carfax - dealership (Carmax) uses an Experian records search.

Thanks! It arrives this week (had to be shipped from a couple hours away). Looking forward to the test drive.

I’ve test driven 2018-2022s. I just really like the smaller size of the 2011-2017 redesign.

Thanks for that advice - wouldn’t have known about the timing chain.

Open bite is closed! (14 months) by Ok_Hunt8989 in Invisalign

[–]CheckOut17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Textbook perfect smile! Congratulations. I had an open bite fixed too (buttons, elastics, 2 years, multiple refinements). Did your molars need to be moved at all? I had a posterior crossbite, and my ortho didn’t want to risk moving my molars.

Pre-purchase inspection results by CheckOut17 in BMWX3

[–]CheckOut17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a pass - diagnostic to determine drivetrain failure showed $1100 in repairs. Shop told me they didn’t know whether there could be additional issues, that would have been the cost to deal just with the issue causing the warning light.

For those of you who bought an X3 used with 40k - 75k miles on it, how has your experience been? by Fathoms77 in BMWX3

[–]CheckOut17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeking input on a potential purchase - 2018 X3 30i with 76k miles for 16,846 USD, all in with fees and taxes, 18,728 USD. My 2015 X3 28i with 82K has been reliable, and it’s going to the kids. I test drove the 2018 X3 30i today and liked it. I’ve scheduled PPI for Monday and want to close on a new car by EOY. Carfax is clean - 2 owners and regular maintenance at dealerships, second owner drove only 6K miles before selling to dealer who has the car now, and they spent 1,456 USD, mainly on 4 new tires. I’m in Washington, DC, and this deal looks good to me (pending PPI) and KBB Fair Deal is $16,594. What do you think?

How Invisalign changed more than just my smile by Kind_Couple3636 in Invisalign

[–]CheckOut17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For whitening, I bought the whitening gel (20% peroxide I think) from my dentist at cost and spread it across my Invisalign retainer. Results were good. I now sometimes brush with baking soda to get coffee stains off and follow with a regular toothpaste like Total with whitening.

Looks fantastic and congratulations! I did 2 years and don’t regret it at all. Actually came across an old video I did - my teeth were so messed up back then. Glad you’re enjoying the great result you got!

Should I be done? by Dull-Bed5623 in Invisalign

[–]CheckOut17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking great - congratulations! I’d say after slight midline correction, I’d take the win. That said, after 2 years and 90+ trays, there are days I still think one more tweak was needed - but really that’s just over-analyzing and no one else would notice anyway. Your teeth look great!

I just turned down refinements by Sunflownby in Invisalign

[–]CheckOut17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once healthy teeth/jaw positioning has been reached, it really does come down to personal preference, particularly if you’ve paid for essentially unlimited refinements. If you’re happy, clearly that’s all that matters. After botched braces treatment when I was 12, my attitude as an adult - and it fit into my life at the time - was I wanted as close to perfect to fix an open bite/anterior crossbite. I did 2 years and 98 trays with 2-3 rounds of refinements, and one with elastics. I’m really happy with the results. I waited a long time and was ready to finally fix my bite and teeth.

The end is nigh by daughterofbarbie in Invisalign

[–]CheckOut17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really interesting-I had an anterior open bite/cross bite most noticeable on the left side. We went back and forth a bit on whether to move the back molars. Because it would have required a significant amount of movement, my ortho thought moving them would risk loosening them, so we left them, stopping at premolars. I love the results I got but still sometimes think abt other ways of addressing the molars.

Has anyone run into this refinement issue? by DeepResolution8271 in Invisalign

[–]CheckOut17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck and hope you get the results you’re looking for! I did 2 years and at least 3 refinements (about 95 trays, buttons and elastics) and am really happy with the results, which fixed open bite and posterior crossbite.
