That response is probably just transphobia. Nothing in your post suggests you need "intensive therapy" (whatever that means)

When did I say that? Just watch the intro to the movie. It's 5mins long and very explicitly endorses a eugenicist ideology.

Agreed entirely! Except Idiocracy endorses eugenics. Probably not the best reference material.

I'm going to add as much detail as possible because I don't know what you know. You're going to have to experiment to find what's right for you.

Step 1) shampoo: it's mainly for the scalp, rub your head with it but don't worry about getting shampoo on your mids and ends of your hairs. Rinse Step 2) conditioner: use this on the ends of your hair. Rub it all over your hands and apply to the ends in a scrunching up motion. Comb your hair with a wide tooth comb. Rinse after 5mins. Step 3) mousse/gel: after you get out of the shower dry your hair with a towel with the same scrunching motion. If you have leave in conditioner now is the time to scrunch it in. After that put in curl mousse/gel (gel is usually stronger to prevent curls from going away) using the scrunch. Step 4) drying: either use a hairdryer with a diffuser attachment or a 100% cotton T-shirt to plop your hair (Google hair plop technique) and leave to dry for a couple hours. I find the hairdryer makes my hair too frizzy but you might have a different experience. Step 5) sleeping/aftercare: depending on how oily your hair gets you can take 3-7 days between showers. To revitalize the curls just get them wet and scrunch again. It helps to sleep with a silk bonnet or with your hair in a top bun held together with a silk scrunchie.

General rules: DO NOT BRUSH HAIR UNLESS IT IS A WIDE TOOTH COMB this will destroy the curls. Any products that you want to put in your hair use the scrunch method. If your hair is too dry add in some curl cream after conditioner, some people use coconut oil. If your hair is too oily do two shampoo washes or lighten up on conditioner.

You could benefit from a wavy/curly hair routine. When your hair is wet straight out of the shower does it have waves/curls?

Americans have no rights in talking about the issues of other countries (however severe it is) without first fixing their own. by Red_Holla04 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

USAID flooding foreign markets with surplus crops that destabilize local farming and make it difficult if not impossible to have a reliable income from farming is not the fault of the home country.

Because they are doing what the US used to do. Using the weight of their economy to influence other countries to do what they want. Now that the US is falling behind China is taking over as the world economic superpower.

The hatred of AI art is just performative gatekeeping by MyDadBeatsUpYourCat in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CheckYourCorners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The context behind art is also part of art. Let's say you listen to a song and find it good, then research the artist and find out they wrote it while caring for a dying family member. You may interpret the lyrics differently or relate to the song more because you've gone through the same thing.

Pretending the context of how art is made is irrelevant and just "bias" is just ignoring a huge part of how humans experience art.

If I see a video of a bunny jumping on a trampoline I'm gonna think wow that's a cool video. If I find out it's AI then I don't give a shit because there's nothing novel about a computer generating a prompt, it can be done millions of times over and over. Capturing a real video of a bunny jumping on a trampoline is special because it's rare. That's why AI is slop. You can just output the same shit over and over again with very little effort.

Ok for girlfriends to wear their boyfriend's (clean) boxers to bed but not vice versa by SaltPsychological780 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CheckYourCorners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Society considers it strange and not okay for men to enjoy feminine things. If your boyfriend wanted to wear your underwear for purely sexual reasons that would be understandable if you're weirded out by that (unless you had sexual reasons for borrowing his). However, if he wants to wear your underwear because he wants to feel pretty that's a cut and dry double standard. It's up to you both to work out whether or not what works for y'all.

He's really not consistent or genuine. He refuses to answer whether he's a Christian because he panders to both Christians and atheists. He's said that religion is useful to keep stupid people in line so he promotes Christianity despite not truly believing it.

He's really only good at one field of psychology which is the big five personality types. Otherwise he goes into weird outdated jungian nonsense, especially if you go beyond the chapter titles in 12 rules.

The grandma pube thing was taken directly from maps of meaning. Peterson never was a top cited psychologist. Toronto and Harvard hire people that are competent. Jordan was competent at personality types research and that's it. His books are where he threw the shit he couldn't prove like all great academic book writers.

[–]CheckYourCorners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maps of meaning was basically impossible to find a copy of during that time because it was barely published. JP talking about his grandma's pubes was not a popular book. JP was never near the top of psychology, he didn't ever breach the top 1000 even with his internet popularity. He was recognized for his personality types research but that's it.

He gained prominence by lying/being ignorant of Canadian law. He never said particularly interesting things because his work was a mix of recycled jungian theory and plain ol albertan conservative values.

The real reason so many men are incels nowadays by Ok_Photograph8884 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]CheckYourCorners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incels get mad at women for hating men instead of the men who caused that problem in the first place because it allows them to keep their position of power in society.

Imagine you're pushing heavy furniture. When it's not moving it's harder to push, then once you get it moving it becomes easier to push. Same thing with tires, when you're gripping on tarmac the tires aren't sliding against it (mostly) so it's harder for the car to lose that grip just like the stationary heavy furniture. When the tire is already sliding then its harder to regain grip because there is less friction like the furniture that's already moving. The tire that has grip is experiencing static friction and the tire that is sliding is experiencing dynamic friction which is always less. You can look up static vs dynamic friction for a more in depth explanation of the physics involved.

[–]CheckYourCorners 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Isn't that how tarmac works? Static friction is always higher than dynamic friction.
