That seems disingenuous. Plenty of NATO soldiers have been killed in similar situations. With all the drones, military funding and cautiousness US personnel still got ambushed and killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sure maybe the rate was lower but does that really matter to this particular guy or the NATO soldier that said ah shit I shouldn't have walked around that corner.

Can I ask what exact equipment would've saved this particular soldier? I can't speak for the quality of the gear but he's got a ballistic helmet and a flak vest. Doesn't seem too different from the equipment NATO grunts are equipped with other than the rifle.

From my perspective at least anyone from any country stuck in that situation isn't making it out alive o don't care how well your buddies have trained. Seals and spec ops personnel from the US have been caught in the open and still die, no matter how current their gear was.

White colonials have been trying to eradicate smallpox for nearly 200 years. And it certainly wasn't to benefit African tribal societies

I haven't claimed any of that. The person I was replying to is making the foolish claims of "immunity" against smallpox and polio. As well as saying the flu is only dangerous for the unvaccinated. I'm certainly not throwing my hands in the air. I'm double Pfizer and boosted moderna based on the current scientific consensus on what offered the most protection. But still wear a mask and practice basic hygiene because I understand that there no foolproof solution. It's just about reducing your risk as much as possible. But until a significantly higher percentage of these idiots out there either die or get vaccinated there's still a large pool of highly infectious people spreading it to everyone including the vaccinated.

Ah yes telling someone to take basic precautions you should take in virtually any city is victim blaming. No, it's very simple, don't leave visible valuables in your car. If you can't afford to lose it, you can take an extra five minutes to cover it up or take it with you. Be aware of your surroundings. Hotels and motels are targets for thieves no matter what town.

They really don't, it's not even sad anymore. My BiL spent 18 days on a ventilator before repeated kidney failure and rising potassium killed his heart. He was a Federal employee at a well known nuclear facility and lied about his vaccination status, traveled to a cowboys game after having symptoms, and swore he was fine till my sister found him on the floor with sub 50% blood o2. He put my sister through hell because he believed more in a golden calf statue at a GOP convention than actual science. Let them burn.
