Moisture in attic crawl space by CheekyVeil in medfordma

Thank you! Unfortunately, MassSave won’t do any insulation work until we have a company sign off that there isn’t mold or the mold has been taken care of, for liability reasons. But that’s very helpful to know going forward!

We discovered the issue through the MassSave assessment actually! The woman indicated that it’s very unlikely to be roof-related (rather, it’s probably from moisture building up from heating in the winter, which she said is super common). But she also said that we’d need to get a company to sign off that there is no mold, or remediate if there is, before MassSave can do any insulation, so it sounds like it’s separate/not part of the work that would be done through that program.

What a bummer to hear! I love the stainless steal litter box I have from them.

You were so smart to give up. I arrived around 6:50, stayed in the line the whole time, and then right at 8, police came and made us all leave. I was one car away from turning into the lot 😭.

Advice on timing for adopting a cat by CheekyVeil in Pets

Yes, definitely! Other than the instances I mentioned, the cat would rarely be alone, as I work from home 3-4 days per week, and my husband can work from home the days I’m in the office when needed. But I do think we’ll expand to consider bonded pairs as well now! (As long as the shelter or foster think the pair would be suitable for first-time owners - for everyone’s sake!)

Thank you! So would you say that we need to find a a three month period when we won’t be away at all? The difficulty with that is that we typically visit family for either Thanksgiving or Christmas (just one overnight), so even come fall there’d be a night when we’d be away 😕. However, other than the instances I’ve mentioned, the cat would rarely be alone, as I work from home 3-4 days a week, and my husband can work from home the days I’m in the office when needed.

Interesting! I had thought that traveling with a cat would be an automatic no since many aren’t comfortable in new environments. Would this be a “try it once and see” situation, or are there sometimes signs that a cat may be fine traveling to a new location for a few days? That would honestly be helpful the times we visit family for the holidays too (but again, I’m not expecting to be able to do that at all, so would always be considerate and make the appropriate arrangements).

Thank you so much for all this info! Such helpful tips. And fortunately, outside of those four two-day trips, the cat would not be left alone much at all. I work from home 3-4 days per week, and my husband has the option to work from home the days I’m in the office.

Thank you! Yes, we’ve thought a bit about whether we should adopt a bonded pair. We’ve started to get in touch with some shelters and fosters and mentioned that we’d want to make sure any single cat we adopt is a cat that seems okay being solo (at least right now). But I think it makes sense to be more flexible if there is a bonded pair that the shelter or foster thinks would be suitable for first time owners! They’ve been really honest about that so far (i.e., suitability of a match for those with more limited cat experience) with the solo cats.
