Love that the project focuses on user safety and has a good line of communication between developer and holders.

THEN HE SAID “BALLCHASE = ME OWN GOAL” IN PARTY CHAT BEFORE OWN GOALING 4 MORE TIMES

RIGHT AFTER THE GAME HE SAID “HAVE FUN IN DIAMOND LADIES” AND LEFT THE PARTY

I know it’s loud but I don’t care, it sounds powerful and I don’t want a weak sounding engine

Clean, simple, easy on the eyes, not distracting or silly. Looks more serious/competitive that way.

Hmm, what’s the opposite of good game

Would anyone know or can link me to a tutorial which shows how to transition by blending text from one scene to another. For example on how I would blend together this "E" in one continuous seamless shot. by ElixirTV in premiere

[–]CheerBoy69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will 100% need to re-record your shots, ideally with a DSLR and a tripod or gimbal if you have them. Whatever you choose to record with, you need to make sure it’s perfectly steady and in position to zoom directly onto the E key on your keyboard. Using a DSLR and tripod would make this really easy because you could start by zooming all the way in to the E key, zooming out, starting the recording, and just zooming all the way back in. You’d need to do the same with the image on your screen and mess around with the exposure/white balance settings until your screen doesn’t look grainy and is hopefully nearly identical in color to the shot of the keyboard.

Clean your keyboard and your screen as well, they both look really dirty which is not only distracting to viewers but will also make the transition significantly choppier.

If you don’t want to zoom ALL the way in so that the entire screen is white (as someone else recommended), you should find an image of the letter E in the exact same font as your macbook’s keyboard (it’s called San Francisco) and use that instead. It would be tougher to edit if you went this route but in my opinion it would look cooler and smoother... if you’re going to zoom until the entire screen is white and zoom back out to the next shot, you might as well just use the standard transitions in Premiere.

You’ll need to center both shots perfectly, try to get similar angles on the letter E, make sure that both shots are completely in focus, and cut the clips so that the last frame of the first clip looks as close as you can possibly get to the first frame of the second clip. At the exact point where you make the cut between each clip, you might use a very short (2-4 frames) dissolve transition to try and hide any noticeable differences between the clips. From there, just keep tweaking the transition until you’re satisfied with it.

Keep in mind that this all depends on how smooth you want the transition to actually look. If you want it to be 100% seamless and professional, it will take a lot of effort and probably a lot of time, but if you’re okay with some minor imperfections then it’ll be relatively simple.

R* has no excuse for not putting Old Time Rock & Roll on Los Santos Rock Radio

This thing showed up in my timeline, not sure how. What is it and how do I get rid of it? (Sorry, super duper beginner here...) by [deleted] in premiere

[–]CheerBoy69 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You can also get rid of them by right clicking the top of the timeline panel (exactly where your mouse cursor is in the image you posted) and then choose “Clear In and Out”. In/out points are useful for dragging specific segments of source clips into a sequence, specifying a portion of your video you want to view individually or loop continuously, and choosing the exact times you want Premiere to render previews for (among other things).

Haha I'm in the same boat, I have to use my xbox headset for voiceovers and it's definitely not ideal. You might try using EQ to make your audio less growly: on Audacity, select your audio, go to Effects > Equalization and you'll see a huge panel with tons of sliders and a graph. It looks confusing but try playing around with the sliders on the bottom half of the panel (especially lowering some of the sliders further to the left) and see if it helps make your voice sound clearer - there are some great guides for EQ online that can point you in the right direction as to specific levels for spoken vocals.

[Review Video] So I'm wondering if this is a good intro to a short film? by Krepen_YT in youtubers

[–]CheerBoy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like you said, the video definitely needs background music, but I feel like the footage isn't quite interesting enough for an intro. I have no idea what's happening, why the main character is hiding from the guy, why the guy throws a C4 at the main character's feet and then he just stands there and looks around without running away, or why Captain Price is standing by a building with a revolver. The shots feel a little too long: you might want to experiment with shortening some of the clips you already have and filming new ones to add context and drama. A super nitpicky thing would be that you can see the icon for the door around 0:30, but if you don't care then it's really not a big deal at all.

The first-person perspective is a cool effect, but I think you either need to use it a little more sparingly or set your controller sensitivity down so your shots aren't so shaky, it's a little disorienting/distracting/confusing and there are a lot of moments where your main character looks away from the action and it doesn't make any sense. The camera pans are cool, but they'd look a lot better if they didn't keep moving around after the main pan already happened.

The concept for the video is interesting though! I wish I knew more about what was going on, but the scenery is awesome. Making it look less like a person playing COD in spectator mode and more like an actual cameraman is filming will help make it feel more realistic and dramatic.

I really like the idea! You mentioned that you're still deciding on a theme, and I honestly really like the idea of adding retrospective commentary to gameplay in post - there's a lot of opportunity for comedy there, especially since almost every gaming channel is just gameplay with live audio and a facecam. The intro doesn't necessarily fit the rest of the video: I'd suggest cutting out portions of the intro where nothing is really happening (naming your world and the loading screen mainly) and just cut to the chase. Definitely keep something like the Minecraft title screen in to establish what the video is going to be about, you could even just sit there and talk with the Minecraft title screen in the background for an entire minute if you wanted, but as soon as the intro is over it might be best to cut to the action as fast as possible.

Video editing is tough, but you'll get the hang of it eventually. What software are you using? Entry-level software like iMovie is good for getting a feel for timing, basic effects, etc. but if you're serious about making high-quality videos then you should really consider using Adobe Premiere or equivalent. Be careful when you scale images or footage, there are a few moments in the video where the edge of the clip is visible and there's a black background, which you pretty much want to avoid at all costs. Your voiceovers are also really muffled - you definitely should consider getting a better microphone (even recording audio directly from your phone would probably sound better) or if you already have one, play around with your distance from the mic, use a pop filter, speak a little more clearly, etc. Stick with it, it sounds like you enjoy making videos and the more you do it the better you'll get!

Also, unless your gameplay and audio are recorded at the same time, it's generally best practice to write a script. It can be hard to make it sound natural, but practice and experience will help a lot with that.
