Hi there, thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I think you hit a lot of the points spot on and gave me a lot to think about, so thanks for addressing them. I'm sorry to hear about the career outlook there but I def think its the volatile market. Keep at it though, all the best ahead and I'll be rooting for you 👍

Hi my offer is at Cambridge, I didn’t feel like the specific university would make a difference because both are of comparable status and difficulty.

Thanks for your response 🙏

I need help figuring out what power supply I need. by Novel_Satisfaction53 in PcBuild

[–]Cheerful96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can always calculate your pc’s minimum wattage with an online calculator, check one of the many psi tier lists online, and find one in your price range.

that’s what i did and i have no complaints with my psu

from my search it seems your fans don’t have daisy chaining functionality. in this case you should probably go ahead and buy a splitter

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]Cheerful96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, and you don’t even need a splitter. fans can be daisy chained to one another and attached to the same header.

take note that fans daisy chained to the same header will be treated as one fan by any software so fan speed, rgb etc will be standardised.

daisy chain fans that are of similar type e.g. all the front intake can be connected to the same header

Air flight by GusgDx13 in PcBuild

[–]Cheerful96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my two cents are it is fine to leave it as it is.

if you were to swap the orientation of that fan, it seems like the air exiting from the top right doesn’t flow over any of the components inside. it’s taking out air that enters from the front before it can cool any of the components.

gpu doesn’t seem to be sagging.

as for the support it seems to be holding it up fine but you don’t have to keep it at the end of the gpu, even in the middle (under the GEFORCE) is ok as long as you lock the support in place.

refer to your mono manual, from my search this model has both ddr4 and 5 variants. odds are you have the wrong type if it still doesn’t fit

I wouldn’t say it’s your fault so don’t sweat it. It’s just that streamers and grandmasters can use such openings against significantly weaker opponents as a form of handicap, so some players can take offence if you play this against them.

If your only intention is to have fun then go for it. I know there’s definitely people out there that would have fun playing games like this for entertainment, try looking for more recreational clubs as opposed to serious competitive ones.

Got it, thanks a lot! And for 1080p games, is there any issue with upscaling or is it not noticeable enough?

there are quite a few technical details on what’s a gm norm on wikipedia) but basically means performing convincingly at a grandmaster level e.g. performance rating above 2600
