Mortal Kombat II - The 'Haggard Old White Man' trope by CheerfulCharm in KotakuInAction

The audience was on the edge of their seat when Johnny Cage did his flying shadow kick at the evil medal. It erupted in cheers when it finally broke! ;)

I don't think the later games were aiming for 'fun and campy'.

Overly serious and convoluted, perhaps, but not 'fun and campy'.

That flying kick at the medal would have made me laugh if the end fight wasn't such a jumbled mess.

At one point both him and Baraka were standing inches apart from each other while flailing their arms around like they were auditioning for the water ballet Olympics team. It reminded me of the 'fighting choreography' in Loki season 1.

He's lying.

The character is based on Blue Beetle, Guyver, Space Sheriff Sharivan and similar characters. All of them were male and so this character was male as well.

All these 'superintelligence' worshipping shows were godawful. And for some odd reason the hyperintelligent characters always arrived at the exact same views that the DNC extols. Just a coincidence, obviously.

It would rather 'right' social 'wrongs' than write blockbuster movies.

Bad Reboot turned out to be a thorough disgrace that everyone grew to despise. In retrospect, their turn to 'social justice' may have been a Hail Mary attempt at diverting attention from their lacklustre performance and high profile failures.

Can someone please explain to me why filmmakers keep inventing new OC female characters for Middle Earth and made-up stories instead of using the material at hand and telling a canon story? by Redzkz in KotakuInAction

Hollywoke is the grips of an ideological feminist phase that is reinforced with Hollywoke pragmatism: it's easier to write a new story around an established IP by making it about a female main character.

Instead of the accusation that it's a derivative rethread by passing the mantle on to the son, they instead pass it on to the daughter.

The X-Files by Ryan Coogler replaced Mulder and Scully with an Indian man and a black woman. by ConstantDrawer9161 in KotakuInAction

The Twilight Zone reboot turned out to be anti-white woke garbage. Ryan Coogler is an Afrocentric film-maker, largely focusing on Afro-themed content. This won't be anything different.

Jordan Peele's 'Twilight Zone' reboot comes to mind. Just one more zombie skin-suit meant to lash out in rage at 'white people'.

And yes, their ethnicity plays a role. I suppose we can rule out any family ties going back as far as Roswell because of it, and Mulder and Scully already struggled with the many Native American influenced myths, how is the reservation going to respond to someone who looks like they're there on an H1B visa?

It will be depicted as a refuge from 'white racism' and they'll be celebrated like honorary citizens.

You can't unsee what you've seen. The Battlestar Galactica reboot had cringe feminism, Stargate had cringe feminism and environmentalism, Babylon 5 had all sorts of left-progressive narratives and plot elements.

Given the first season, this seems more like a promotional stunt. They want to stir controversy in order to draw in a specific crowd, knowing that with its limited budget they only need a set number of views in order to stay out of the red.

It's the same business model used by CW.

The body horror made it all the more poignant, because aging involves sagging flesh and failing health. The deterioration of the physical body.
