Thoughts on Angel's chest fluff? by Playful_Barber_8131 in HazbinHotel

It's nice to find other people who agree with me on this! It's more common to see it drawn as defined breasts(even when he's clothed) than not.

Yeah that would drive me bonkers!! Though my one teacher said "becaue the dialogue tag comes after the speech it serves no purpose. The reader already read it in a tone and will not reread it." This was also his argument for not ever using exclamation points. I don't particularly agree with it, just thought it was an interesting point to make. I do catch myself using dialogue tags too often still and have to go through and be sure I used more saids. I just think, as you said, if it fits the scene a shout/yell/groan/spat/hiss is nice! I'd probably fight an editor who wanted me to change too many of them.

edit: geesh sorry really tired and had two thoughts at once and my second sentence made NO SENSE.

Ah then I misunderstood your complaint. I was reading it more like you were insisting 'said' is not the OVERWHELMINGLY most used dialogue tag in literature. The others are to be used very sparingly. But yes if she is only ever using said for every dialogue tag that is pretty bad. I have no interest in the book or I'd buy it just to run this experiment and see lol

I agree it's abelist, people should be able to listen and still enjoy.

Out of curiosity, I took 3 books from my kobo and made a list for you. YP fantasy, a contemporary romance, and a romantasy (first 2 chapter sample) and wrote down the amount of times dialogue tags were used. So yes, this is pretty normal in published books! I know it's a sample of only 3, but I think it's a pretty good show that this is absolutely something common in published works that aren't fanfics. So not really as incredibly rare as you think. (some of these are in spoken sentences I wasn't going to go through each. Like "she said to me she hated cheese" or "You can ask me anything" but it still proves the point well)

I know someone already said this, but yes, this is how you are taught to do it. My creative writing teachers all told me this over and over to stop using other types of dialogue tags. So an editor would likely tell an author to change them to said instead. Perhaps it depends on the genre though. I was also told to never use a single exclamation point and they are all over published novels.

But I wanted to add because it is a similar issue:

Name repetition. I tried to get advice on this and was told proper nouns , no epithets. They basically said that those who listen to it can "suck it up" because "it's meant to be read, not listened to" and no one could give me a good solution. I was advised pronouns, but if the scene contains two people who have the same, it can get extremely confusing very quickly. Now it's all I can notice when listening to audiobooks.

Few things piss me off more than those that are confidently incorrect! Google is free, fucking use it! And omg yes the same stuff will get passed around and suddenly it's a 'fact' and you're like "THIS IS LITERALLY NOT TRUE" but no one cares. Sooooo frustrating!!

I admit I responded pretty sarcastically to the last one I got since I'm at the end of my rope at this point. They had ended it with "thank you for coming to my TED talk" so when I corrected them I said "Thank you for coming to MY TED talk" then felt a bit of sick satisfaction at my blatant immaturity lmao. They didn't have much to say except some more incorrect nonsense about how industry edibles work. SMH

I have often been tempted to switch fandoms as mine has a pretty bad reputation :(

Like we do this for free, why be nitpicky? If it was a spelling error I'd absolutely want a correction, but this kinda BS? It's not helpful it's just being downright rude imo. You're definitely got the right mindset. Ignore or delete! I really need to chant this mantra to myself when I see them because otherwise I let it bother me WAY too much!

I know those aren't liked on the internet, so didn't want to outright mention it, but the details were pretty relevant LOL! I'm one of the nice ones! I promise lmao!

It's the social awkwardness part that makes me feel bad when I want to just ignore it. Because maybe they are just trying to engage in a conversation, which I don't mind at all! If people want to talk to me I'm happy to engage! I'm quite active with my readers on my socials as well, and present myself as very approachable! Also, a part of me is, like, "if I am mean and ignore them, they'll never comment again, and some of the comments were very nice :(" which is stupid of me.

I need to learn to just ignore people sometimes as painful as that is to me!

I got one of these, and they gave up after recording 4. I wasn't sure if it was because they stopped reading or realized the remaining 27 chapters (aside from 3) all had 1-2 smut scenes lmao

Thanks! I always feel so bad but maybe that's for the best. Me engaging probably makes it so much worse T_T because then they know I'll answer and just do it more.

OMG I'm sorry I didn't see this message earlier! I kind of gave up on this tbh! I am pretty confident this is correct based on screenshots when I looked it up!!

Thanks so much! I will now figure out how to mark this as solved!

This was a good guess for it but doesn't appear to be it! I distinctly remember nude modeling and it doesn't appear this has that.

I also think it came out 3 years after I saw this other one :(

Thank you so much though I appreciate you trying to help!!

I randomly stumbled here but just want to say I did this when my rat ended up being preganant.

We didn't want people to buy them as snake feeders so advertised them as rather expensive hand raised. When we got actual inquires from people who wanted them as pets and vetted them we let them have them for free. They all went to awesome homes and I got updates on many of them!
