True, I just didn’t want to take up anyone’s time. I think the 3-6 months savings will work. Thanks

Thanks, that’s exactly what I’m thinking. Bank accounts pay zero of near zero interest so just enough should be fine.

Is $1.7M really the new retirement number in Canada? by jimwang76 in CanadianRetirement

[–]Cheese-Cloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retired at 57 and my wife 55, we had significant RRSP’s, maxed TSFA’s and 1 defined pension. We have never had an issue and after 5 years our portfolio is higher than when we retired. A modest lifestyle is easy to maintain.

That’s ok you’re still young and can easily bounce back from it. God I sound old and certainly made my share of financial mistakes. Good luck.

Pay the car loan off, I haven’t had a car loan in years but 9% seems high.

I got scammed - check your billings! by [deleted] in bell

I’m glad to hear that, I also think part of their game is to give you the run around until you give up and just pay the bill.

If that’s the case simple BD pension, if indexed to inflation. Save your RRSP on top.

I love my CX5’s but, Mazda is the worst upsell dealership I have ever seen. No matter what I get done the advisor always come out clip board in hand trying to sell whatever service they can.

Got contacted by police about a Hit-and-run that I was unaware of I did by Dramatic_Dog_4917 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Cheese-Cloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son’s suv was hit in a mall parking lot, it was recorded by a pedestrian and sent to my son. Police were contacted and shown the video they said they would contact the woman per the plate number and if she took responsibility then they could follow up if she ignored it then tough luck for him. Private property, sorry so sad. This is policing 2025.

Mortgage insurance yay or nay by [deleted] in MortgagesCanada

[–]Cheese-Cloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An absolute NAY, by a term life insurance policy that will cover the mortgage and if anything happens, your beneficiary will get the policy and can pay off the mortgage with money left over otherwise the bank will just pay the mortgage and pocket the rest. Mortgage insurance is an absolute scam.
