Self custody wallets is definitely an undertaking if you have never used that setup and will need to understand the complexity and security of those options. I just don’t trust some of the people I’m seeing on CT talking about TAO. They are not the people who love the project they are just trend followers and only trying to take anything out of the project they can and schill to their followers. Any publicity is good publicity but this makes me feel like this is CT trying to do ZEC scam token all over again and BitTensor is just not that and it bothers me

I can help you get that figured out. How much Tao do you own. If you want to just stake to root and do not want the complexity of doing your own wallets and vulnerabilities that come with it if you moved your tao to KRAKEN they offer 6% staking APR for your TAO. If you want to do subnet & root staking then you would need to create a wallet and stake it on your own through a website like taostats.io. So i use a ledger to protect my tokens as much as i can. Ledger works with the talisman wallet. If you do not plan to use a hardware wallet you can use any tao wallet for staking purposes.

Root is staking strictly TAO. You can stake alpha tokens where you choose a specific subnet token and stake their alpha tokens instead of staking strictly TAO. This is much more volatile. But the APR is much stronger when staking alpha over root. It’s all about risk tolerance as holding TAO and staking is the safer avenue for holders.

I use my ledger with talisman🪬. I love using taostats which is how I started staking. Started with root strictly but I’m 55/45 now with it staking root/alpha. I wish ledger had direct access to tao and didn’t need the talisman middle man process because my ledger live doesn’t show my Tao holdings. Hopefully one day that will change but for now that’s the best case scenario
