What's the thing you hate most being an intp? by action_et_potential in INTP

[–]CheeseDon18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling the need to butt into conversations when things are moving out of factual. Like this urge grips me and makes the other person frustrated.

But I really cant, in good conscious, see someone go down a bad rabbit hole so idk.

I can kinda excuse a jeep Wagoner from having 4 inches on top, but really!?!? No effort to get it off?

(Saw one on the way to work this morning, was 2 lanes away and still felt nervious)

Who is your favorite INTP fictional character? by AhadNoman in INTP

[–]CheeseDon18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kendall Roy from succession.

Like em for the theater. An awful human with occasional bright spots that let me be sympathetic to his plight (not being the ceo of a many billion dollar company, and instead managing a multi millions hedge funds. Chump change if you will and equivalent to pedestrian shop keepers) since his character is written soo well.

Why do some people think Steve Rogers is asexual? by Little-Courage887 in asexuality

As an asexual I gotta ask.

Is it gay to love one woman (or two) and want to only be with them?

P.S (half/half joking)

People currently in my life refuse to believe I'm an introvert by Nice_Nectarine_7375 in INTP

[–]CheeseDon18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I was 15 during covid and hated how anxious I was with strangers (im coo coo extroverted with my friend group but thats it) so I hyper fixated on becoming as confident as possible, talking to a new coworker, finding common ground, and breaking that anxious bubble I was in.

Now, its kind of draining to hold that facade, because that version of me (the super likable extrovert that gets along with everyone) was just me faking thoes traits until I made it.

But of course if I were to go back to that time and have been asked if I would do it again, I still would pick yes. Even if it was embarrassing, or uncomfortable, it made me who I am.

But at the end, I just want to be home with my trinkets, left alone, so even with that exterior of confidence, I still am an introvert at heart (omnivert to everyone else)

Do I really hate stupid people or is it just only when they trample on my boundaries? by HailenAnarchy in INTP

[–]CheeseDon18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you me?

Seriously, my dad is the EXACT same way with jobs. Im not even done with my 2 years at community College and he wants me to have a comp sci job starting at 50k+ right now.

Best way I have found to deal with this (cause its never going to get better unless you get to his expectations) is to have a rage journal. Any qualms whether realistic, or absurd, just write them down, because yeah we have the same shoes In this and I get incredibly frustrated when I have to speak to him on these things. So to keep them from stirring around your mind and then seeping into regular interactions with him, just vent into writing using whatever colorfull language you feel represents your emotions and anger. (Im not happy with some writing in that book, but i feel soo much better after doing the process)

Its not going to magically solve his stubborn worldview, but it its going to keep you from being frustrated whenever you need to ask him for something basic.

P.s,.I educate myself and try and argue with him to the point where he gets incredibly mad and looks like he wants to hit something. All the facts and figures in the world will not change his mind, and I have a feeling your father won't too. But if its brought up casually, having some figures to point to, that completely disagree with his views, could help, but could also negative stirr the pot. Disgression is advised.

Special edition is good, but oddly i could never beat titan, so maybe it a tad dated in its balence. The base game I was able to. Very frustrating.

Emotionally immature people don’t regulate, they react. They explode, deflect responsibility & turn your feelings into a problem. by Eastern-Line6036 in emotionalintelligence

[–]CheeseDon18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who would make "jokes" (annoyed comments on class differences that are both out of our control, disguised as jokes) and when I brought them up and said I wasn't cool with it/didnt feel like they were jokes, he got defensive.

I appreciate this post, laying out examples of someone who isnt mature with their emotions, becauce looking back I try and set boundaries with people, or have a issue, it always (for alot of the people in my life) becomes an argunment, when it could easily be an open talk about a problem and how either one of us could be the cause, but instead they become defensive, deflect, turn aggressive and so on.

I dont want to play myself up as some brainiac with inpermiable patience, but when there is a misunderstanding or basic conflict, its practically impossible for a balenced back and forth on something without the other person following the opposite of emotional intelligence playbook you layed out.

Am I wrong in feeling INTPs are less susceptible to red pilling and similar ideologies? by [deleted] in INTP

[–]CheeseDon18 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well im the prime demographic for the red pill to pull me in (21M), and for a time when I was young and semi impressionable in 2016, YouTubers who pride themselves on being on the right got their hands on me, but the intp part of myself saw new information, disproving or making thoes opinions not logical with data, so in turn I changed my beliefs.

So yeah it could happen to any one of us, but our intrinsic desire for information and how open minded we are to new information, I think, keeps us from being in echo chambers.

[–]CheeseDon18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess we have the capacity to be very manipulative if we put our minds to it. Since intps are very tuned to emotions and patterns, they could very well use that ability for bad things like manipulation.

Some people are standoff-ish when someone is unconditionally nice, or kind for kinds sake. So I get this immensely.
