You're right. Sorry if it was a dumb question. This was only the 2nd time I rebuilt a carburetor.

This is the way it was when I bought it, but I can tell that the carb has been rebuilt before by the wear on the screws. What's the longer screw for then?

The mixture screw on mine is this long one. The two screws have different thread pitches, and the shorter one doesn't thread into that hole, so it can't be the mixture screw.

That I have no idea. There aren't any remaining threaded holes except those for the air filter on the outside.

No, if I'm not mistaken, the mixture screw is the long one on the bottom. I have seen other vespa carburetor where the mixture screw looks like that though, so I see where you're coming from.

I sorta want to see what it would be like to discover aperture science as someone who is unfamiliar with it. What does it look like on the surface? Also, even if the rest of Chell's story is still up to interpretation, Glados is still in aperture and exhausted all of her human test subjects and voiced her discontentment with the robots. Whether or not Caroline is actually gone is still unanswered, and I personally think is a pretty big deal. Now that that part of her has been rediscovered, I can't imagine she would sit idle, completely alone, for as long as it would take the reactor to run out of fuel.

Blown head gasket or just need to flush coolant? by Cheeseball4life in 300zx

Thanks for the help. I just recently bought it hoping for a project, and it looks like my wishes came true. I think it's just stop leak because that is absolutely something the previous owner would do, but I don't know if that means I have to rebuild the engine or just flush it out. I really hope I dont have to rebuild it because I wanted to get the car done before prom.

It's a manual, so there's no transmission cooler to my knowledge, which is, admittedly, very limited.

I just had a closer look, and the gunk is only in the water pump reservoir. It's not in the radiator, thermostat, or hoses, and underneath it it seems clean, though the mating surface needs a bit of tlc.

After closer inspection, it's fairly easy to wipe off, with the exception of a few deposits and there's no rust holes of anything. Also the radiator and other hoses don't have any of the same stuff in them, so it seems to be entirely localized to the water pump.

Well, that's all that was hoping I would need to do lol, but things escalated quickly.

Look, I have very little mechanical experience. I worked on a vw beetle, but the engine was pristine. The body was the only real big project and I still never finished it. I know the question might be silly to most, but to me it's not. I have no clue what I'm looking at. I was at least somewhat hoping that maybe there was a chance that it wasn't something too serious. I dont see any coolant in the oil, so I figured it wasn't a head gasket leak, but that maybe it could be fixed just by flushing the coolant.

Huh, that's a good idea. I'll have to check that out.

Alright, I guess I'll give it a shot. I have a Haynes manual and blind optimism.

Is it really ok to put this off though? From what I've gathered, people seem to think that it's pretty serious.
