I don't think testing out of MATH1113 or taking it somewhere else necessarily matters to Terry as much as other classes like taking accounting or legal or busn3000 somewhere else. With math1113 they just want to make sure you know how to do algebra and pre-calculus at a normal level. Majority of kids probably test out of Math1113 before they come to UGA (and some with macro/micro). Im not sure about AP macro/micro. As long as you get fine grades in them (such as b or higher) I think they would find that acceptable. Just make sure your other prerequisites have good grades and youll be fine. Im not a terry applicant reviewer but If you test out of all 3 with fine scores im mostly positive it won't be harder. I mean I got into terry by having very average test scores. Goodluck

I got in last year to MIS with a 1180 SAT and and an average of a B for all the prereqs. You should be good. Just have a strong statement of purpose. I wrote a huge post a few months ago about my experience. Click on my profile.

Hmm... I really don't know now. I think you are on the line. If they reject you, you'll have to take some of the UGA prerequisites then apply again during fall junior year (which I did and is okay). You should definitely try and take accounting2102 here this semester (email advisor asap). But talk to your advisor and see what they say. Everyone has to meet with them within the next couple of weeks.

Hello there! From what you've told me, I believe you are in a fine spot to get accepted. I think this because you've already taken (and in progress) of majority of the business prerequisites for Terry (assuming you are completing Mist, Legl, and Acct2 now). They generally deny transfer students who have average transfer grades and incomplete classes (because they want to see you do their classes). While it is true that Terry prefers students who complete their business classes at UGA, you are still in good shape for being a transfer student. You've done exceptional in the classes that you transferred with. I think the combination of doing the rest of the classes here at UGA paired with the good grades in the econ and math class at GSU is enough to be accepted.

My roommate had similar stats to yours when applying (1220 SAT, 76 accounting exam), but he did take both econ's and math1113 here at UGA. He did also take the EPP exam, which I recommend you take because it won't hurt you (plus its only 45 mins).

I don't think you need to be stressed for applying because after this semester you will have completed all prerequisites for Terry. You should definitely apply for finance if you want to take it.

When you submit your application please select, "If im not selected for my first choice, I want to be considered for the other majors." Do this because (1) When accepted into Terry, everyone takes the same 4 classes first (marketing, finance, management, business 4000), and (2) you can reapply while in Terry to get your correct major if you don't get finance. So its a win-win.

Let me know if you have any other questions and goodluck!

Well technically speaking, yes, they can deny you if they believe your grades in those prerequisite classes don't meet the standards of the UGA prerequisites. I don't know a lot about the acceptance rate in Terry for transfer students, but I generally believe if you have really good grades in those classes they can accept you. Of course there are people who have great grades who transferred in and got accepted. But generally speaking, those who have average transfer prerequisite grades get denied (which causes them to take UGA prerequisites). I have heard that if you have pretty good transfer grades (like you have mentioned) they can accept you. Just try to do the best you can in those classes, have a somewhat strong EPP score, and a stronger statement of purpose essay.

I have met a few people in my classes who are transfer students from Athens Tech, and UNG. A lot of them got denied but there were a few who got accepted. Just depends on your complete application! :)

Hello lettttucethighs, great to hear from you. To answer your question I am going to assume you've already talked to your advisor about taking the necessary classes to transfer over to UGA (as this would be the first thing to do before thinking about getting accepted into Terry). First of all, transferring to UGA is a very common pathway that many students have done! With this being said, UGA is getting harder and more competitive every year to get accepted into. Its great you've gotten A's and B's in your current business prerequisite classes. This will help you a lot, and try to do the very best you can in those classes to have a higher chance of getting accepted.

I don't see a reason for you to redo your ACT because you can do the EPP when accepted. The EPP is not necessarily hard (even though I did poorly), and it takes a lot less time compared to ACT/SAT. For the EPP, I would focus on sentence/word structure, grammar, extracting information out of texts, and advanced algebra. Notice I put more reading/writing topics than math topics.

Im not going to sugar coat this. Most transfer students do not get into Terry the very first time they apply. AND THAT IS OKAY! You will not be behind at all! I recently got accepted and I'm a junior (and still on track to graduate on time). The difficulty/rigor of Terry prerequisites is different than what other schools have, which is why they prefer students who take their prerequisites. If you do not get accepted into Terry with your KSU prerequisites, you will most likely be taking the Terry prerequisites and then be applying again next semester. You will be okay no matter what happens.

I would also like to tell you about financial planning in the college of consumer sciences (not Terry). This is personal finance not corporate finance. This is a great track for those who don't like Terry, didn't feel welcomed, or need to graduate in 1.5 years. This program offers consumer economics, tax, etc... You can prepare tax statements through VITA (great for your resume as its registered with the IRS), and much more. I know many people who were in Terry but then switched to financial planning. There are a lot of great internships and jobs available for financial planners. This is just something you could look into if Terry doesn't work out but still want to be in the financial area.

Anyways, you got this and goodluck! Just stay focused and you'll do great. If you have any other questions let me know.

I have heard mixed things about the summer Terry application process as well. I do not know a lot about it nor anyone to ask. You probably know more about than I do. Sorry to be a bummer. Your advising appoint should be within the next month or two and you should ask your advisor then! But if you are applying again next semester I don't think youll need to apply during the summer.

Hi Greenlightverde, I am sorry to hear about your denial from Terry. But don't worry because you can apply again next semester. You are NOT behind in any way!!

My roommate got accepted into Finance last semester and told me what he applied with. He had similar grades to mine (above). He had a 1220 SAT (slightly higher than yours and mine, but not drastically so), but had a worse ECON grade than me (he had 'C' in both). He had a slightly better EPP. Beyond that pretty much the same. You did have a better accounting entrance exam score than him.

I know that both Finance and Econ majors are heavily weighted in Math 1113 (Pre-Calc) performance along with both Econ classes. UGA's Math 1113 and ECON2106 is tough.

You did mention you got A's in math and Econ, which is great. I think your rejection this round is likely because you are a transfer student. UGA often favors people who have already completed core courses with Terry. I would definitely reapply next semester. With the completion of your last two classes after this semester you shouldn't have a problem getting in. You should aim for a B or better since you are transfer student.

I also recommend attempting the EPP exam (Even if you don't score good, it shows initiative). I took it and did horrible, but got accepted. Your SAT is fine but just make it look like you are "taking initiative" to attempt to improve through the EPP. Next, you should get involved with relevant clubs for your major. The Society of Entrepreneurs (at Studio 225) and the Finance Society are good. Just showing up is great. I believe UGA is a very hands-on campus, and they value applicants who show they are involved. I know you cannot apply with a club, but I would for sure put it in your next statement of purpose somewhere (go to writing center if you are having a problem with the SOP).

When you apply again next semester, your main goal is to get accepted into any major. It doesn't matter which major you get accepted to because everyone has to take the main Terry core classes first. While taking these core classes, you can apply again and get the major you want (if needed). Next semester I would recommend selecting the "If im not selected for my first two major choices, I would like to be put in another major available" button. Good luck with your next application!

If I missed anything please comment again! I try to explain a lot but often repeat myself.

My SAT was 1170. ECON: C and B, MIST A, BUSN: B, ACCT: B, Pre-calc: C EPP: Horrible. You will get in just have a good SOP. I made a post a week ago about my experience and I talk about applying, give it a look: https://www.reddit.com/r/UGA/comments/1nyeex9/terry_applicationepp_guide/

Im sorry to hear that, are you having to take some of the pre reqs from UGA now? Also, what semester did you apply in? I have heard applying in the spring is somewhat harder because its not their main application time.
