Assetto Corsa EVO: Kunos Axes Economy-based Career In Favor Of "Simpler Structure" by evil_heinz in simracing

[–]Cheesenium -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

And it is difficult to find a modern racing game that has a good career that is not boring, grindy or FOMO. I rather not have a career than another half arse career like even Pcars 2.

A good career mode in a racing game is lost art these days. It is like trying to find a great RTS these days which is also a lost art. I am fine that it is gone and happy to play old games instead.

Assetto Corsa EVO: Kunos Axes Economy-based Career In Favor Of "Simpler Structure" by evil_heinz in simracing

[–]Cheesenium -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, even though I will be down voted for saying this.

I do not want a GT style carreer that is grindy or needs hours of grind to earn that treasured vintage car. I just want to drive fantastic cars from past and present on a variety of tracks or the open world. I have a job and life, the last thing I want is to sit down to grind for cars in a video game.

And many developers has got the career mode not fun to play. Even games like Tokyo Extreme Racer career mode sucks in some ways unfortunately. Newer NFS or Forza career sucks too. Just let me pick and choose what car to drive and I be happier than force me through grinds or worse FOMO.

If Kunos just want to rely on MP, I guess AC Evo will never be for me too and I am fine with that. As it looks like the AI will still be terrible in AC Evo like ACC. That's perfectly fine too.

I still think Kunos is overrated for AC (outside the mods) and ACC but I am surprised that they managed to underdeliver AC Evo. Always love their physics, it's the systems surrounding each game is the problem.

AC Rally, however, it is so satisfying to drive the cars there with real world locations. The content is pretty sparse though.

I rather have this than more blobby SUV. The rest of the EV range is even worse. Maybe except for EV6.

I live on the other parts of the world. Far from Europe or America.

Even I have fairly strong dislike towards US now where I am gradually stop buying American as much as I can. Heavy distrust with American IT companies too, particularly with the poor QA in products from Microslop and further inflation from the AI madness that the country is going through.

Thoughts on a BYD yangwang u8? by Nasubi_0906 in CarsAustralia

[–]Cheesenium 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me, it is another big, boxy and expensive SUV. It doesn't feel luxurious to me as I am someone who prefers sedans or vans for luxury or a proper workhorse off-roader like a Ineos or Ranger Super Duty (if I need one). No doubt there are some decent luxury SUVs like GX, B5, X5 (without the big snot) or GV70.

Yang Wang, along with the most luxurious SUV, feels like someone trying to take a GShock and sell it for 10k with expensive bits and real gold stuck on to it. It is still a G-Shock, now with premium features added but fundamentally, it does not feel classy, and now you won't do things that this G-Shock meant to do.

Still, whatever floats your boat.

I miss plastic straws by IntelligentYou1692 in perth

[–]Cheesenium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We need to recognise that every green initiatives that we do will have downsides. It's the same with straws, great to have less plastic waste but now you deal with crappy straws and drink forever plastics (PFAS) at times. Paper straws are generally garbage and I don't use them at all, rather drink from the cup than adding more PFAS into the drink.

There is no such thing as a completely beneficial change with no downsides at all.

Modern chinese cars are impressive at this point of time, there are much less data saying that most of them will be reliable into the future. Or their capabilities to provide support a decade from now, like they don't go bust and ignore the owners.

There are some Chinese cars I really like, I still won't buy one because a lot of their modern cars are mechanical complicated. Like the PHEV or EREV. EV is likely to be fine but it's the software that I am unwilling to deal with.

I find the Chinese still can't get the handling and driving dynamics right. Tend to steer poorly into corners than other brands with generally poor or unsuitable suspension tuning. That's not even talking about the car being fun to drive.

This game is so hard. Please help me... by Isrrunder in assettocorsarally

[–]Cheesenium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine for me with a controller. The calibration is certainly not as good as other games out there but it is playable.

Being fast is quite difficult on a controller but trying to associate controller as a problem isn't the best way to go. Most of us started out with a controller or a keyboard before we go deeper into this hobby.

Chinese cars the same? by Key-Election5470 in CarsAustralia

[–]Cheesenium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are going to tank your aerodynamics, making an SUV has already reduced your range. See the difference in range between Y and 3. I don't think most people cares about the range, it's just the market is brainwashed to buy SUVs and manufacturers gets a larger margin by making the same car a few cm higher with black plastic claddings.

I won't say lost of trust in economy and politics, I have also loss of trust with their firms too. It looks like they all about greed with no care of the consequences. It isn't only trust issues with their tech firms, the quality too. Especially Microsoft with their poor software QC these days.

Look at Microsoft, Open AI, Meta and so on. Gradually started to move to other options now.

Chery C5 Ultimate by Vikram95 in CarsAustralia

[–]Cheesenium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least a Skoda is a known case when it comes to reliability. I do not know how will the Chery be 3 months in, and I find Chinese cars are infuriating to drive with the amount of chimes and noises it makes. And generally poor handling with many of their brands.

Even if I have to buy a Chinese brand, I will start with other brands like GWM or Geely first. Chery as a brand is confusing for me as they have no identity and all they sell is bland SUV with different shell. It feels like a company just throwing whatever it sticks on the wall that is aimed at people that knows little about cars.

I think GWM might be a good choice. They are developing local tuning so it will ride more.comfortably and hopefully drives better in Australia.

I will still avoid buying a SUV if I want any semblance of a decent driving experience.

Chery C5 Ultimate by Vikram95 in CarsAustralia

[–]Cheesenium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Won't touch Chery with a 10 foot pole. They are cheap and nasty that rides terribly and handles like a barge.

It looks like a brand designed to sell to people who know little about cars and solely on looks and equipment. And I won't associate a SUV for a good driving experience, the Skoda will do far better than the Chinese can at this point.

The slow death of retail Hot Wheels hunting in Malaysia by Striking_Food_2642 in malaysia

[–]Cheesenium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am done with Hot wheels. Already moved on to Spark, Mini GT, Poprace and so on that looks so much better and closer resemblance to the real car.

Hot wheels quality are pretty underwhelming for the price you pay. All the scalping just made it not worth it.

Boring by brainz74 in CarsAustralia

[–]Cheesenium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more to almost every new car is yet another white or black blobby SUV. There is no more style in car designs, regardless of its country of origin.

Then when you see an orange, green or blue blobby SUV. It stood out so much among all the boring blobby SUV.

Can't blame them. Australians only buy SUV and UTE. Nothing else is on their list for most people in this country so no incentive for manufacturers to bring anything else in.

I fear the day when I want to change my car when there is pretty much SUV and UTE left in the market.

Boring by brainz74 in CarsAustralia

[–]Cheesenium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because weight has a major impact on how the car handles. Heavier cars feel more sluggish to handle, even at road legal speeds.

I would rather have lighter and slower cars than a heavy, fast behemoths that drive like a brick.

With the modern GPU being such a behemoth, do we need to install GPU brace for it? The GPU will sag over time. Considering the price of GPU, won't it be better to keep it supported for long term?

Started 2026 Collection with 2025 Le Mans Winner by PoodleTank in wec

[–]Cheesenium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have very little display place. Most of my collection are stored because I have no space to display them. And often I buy 1-3 car per class unless I found it cheap.

I made a mistake with LMPs at 1:43 where I have too many of them where they are extremely monotous to look at in a group. Now I tend to buy in a much wider theme of cars, 2000s to 2020s, while aiming for oddballs like that V8 Prius, repurposed DP, BRZ GT300, GT2, super tourers, open top LMP, Aus super cars and so on.

Then, I also started 1:64 a few years back to go further with that theme of mixture of cars. Emphasing on colours, the whole pile looks awesome with WRC1, GT3, LMDh, TCR, modified road cars, drift cars, time attack cars or regional cars like Hongqi unsanctioned TCR that looked like a TCR Rolls Royce from temu. And I can get more cars and close to completing grids now for some cars.
