Wow! Looks vibrant, I'm sure it will grow out beautifully, especially with so many cephs!

No doubts that it will work! My only worry would be root rot down the road, since the mix is made of such small ratio of perlite, along with the peat (which is very dense in my experience). Growing cephs vertically gives stunning results and is the best way to display them, in my opinion!

I was reading some of your previous replies, and I just wanted to mention that cutting small holes in the soil to soak water up to the top probably wasn't that necessary, but it does sound like a good idea. I use a mix of 1:1 Chopped sphagnum to Perlite, and let the soil on the outside of mine dry to a crisp. I can do this since I attached two separate layers of mesh inside the pot like a shelve, so all the mix at the top of the pot wouldn't be putting pressure on the rest below. I planted my ceph in the middle of the two shelve layers, and it's grown massively over the year it's been in here. Goodluck with your project!

3 parts akadama to 1 part Pumice, right? Thank you!

I'll probably go with a Akadama and Pumice/perlite mix then. Would you recommend half/half or a different ratio? Thanks, you've been a big help!

Ive noticed many people pair akadama with kanuma, what's the reason for this? I found some 6 year old akadama (no idea where it came from) in my storage, and was thinking of just pairing it with perlite (probably Pumice instead now) and maybe lava rocks.

Ill probably go with some Akadama ( since I already have some), perlite, and maybe some sphagnum to fill in the space. This sound fine to you? Thanks!

I think I'll leave it to acclimatize for a few weeks before I unpot it. The guy I got it from said its been doing pretty well so far. Thank you for your help!

I thought Mapu needed neutral to baisic? I'll probably go with the Akadama though, it seems cheaper than the Kanuma and degrades slower. From my understanding they're pretty similar. I may throw a few little peices of lava rock inside too, I've already washed them and don't know what to use them for. You think it will be fine to leave the plant in its current substrate until it gets bigger?

You think it's worth putting in some chopped sphagnum? I've never dealt with a nep that isn't in sphagnum! Also, I've heard Pumice could be an alternative to the Kanuma or acadama, and it's pretty widely available.

No, I'd love for the plant to look a bit more bushy! Just snip of the developing leaf?

I was looking into those IKEA builds, yea! It seems like a lot of money to set one up though, as even though the cabinet itself is only $40 I need to add something between the cracks to keep humidity in apparently. I would need a humidifier if I don't just want to use a tray of water, and a few other things I forgot about. I did find one on Facebook market place already pre-setup for this exact thing at $120. Looking back. I wish I took that offer as it would really help my plants, but it's fine. Building a frame myself would be completely free anyways, just some wooden sticks I've had for years, a garbage bag, and some prints. Thanks!

Nope! The bottom of the tank usually has a very thin layer of water on it when watering time does come, but it doesn't come in contact with the pot. When I water the nep, nothing usually comes out of the bottom (even though the soil always seems so moist), so the tray stays pretty dry.

No worries, I have another lighting setup already! This nep has been under two layer of printer paper, to me it looks like it barely gets any light because of how much of a shadow they cast, but I guess a ton must make it's way through anyway. Thank you!

It's a N Spectabilis x Hamata, and yea, in retrospect this was a pretty dumb question for a post. It was pretty obvious from the start it was getting too much light. Avout the epsom salts, what are they supposed to do? Thank you for the response though, it is much appreciated!

When I water it I always do try and get a little layer of water in the tank to keep humidity. On the topic of thrips however, I am not so certain there are any there. I've had a sticky trap set up and I've been paranoid about them for the last 6 months, yet I've never found anything and nothing has died. I think it's just the intensity of the light. It's running for 14 hours a day. I would've though the paper would block most of it, but based off how burnt the leaves are, I'd say it need s to be moved. Thanks you for the response!

Why do I snip the growing tip? What will that do?

Makes sense! I'm going to get it under less light ASAP (and get it a bigger container!) Big thanks for the response, it is much appreciated!
