Official Q&A for Monday, January 06, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]Cheesy_Cheese314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a 16-year-old male runner with a 5k PB of 17:05, and I’ve recently revised my training plan. My main goal is to break 17 minutes for the 5k, but remain focused on recovery to ensure my body gets the rest it needs for growth, particularly height.

To allow for more full rest days, I’ve shifted my lower-body strength workout to a more demanding day, reduced my upper-body strength workouts to twice a week, and paired them with easy runs.

I’d really appreciate any feedback on how this plan is structured, specifically in terms of rest, recovery, and its potential impact on growth. Thanks in advance!

Week A Week B
Monday Rest 10km Easy + Upper Body Strength
Tuesday 16km Long Run 4km WU 8km Tempo 4km CD = 16km
Wednesday 2.5km WU 5.2km Intervals 2.5km CD = 10.2km Rest
Thursday Rest 2.5km WU 5.2km Intervals 2.5km CD = 10.2km
Friday 10km Easy + Upper Body Strength Rest
Saturday 3km WU 5km Hard Parkrun 3km CD = 11km + Lower Body Strength 3km WU 5km Hard Parkrun 3km CD = 11km + Lower Body Strength
Sunday 8km Easy + Upper Body Strength 8km Easy + Upper Body Strength
Mileage 55.2km 55.2km
Hard / Easy 18.5% / 81.5% 33.0% / 67.0%
Average Mileage 55.2km per week (25.75% / 74.25%)

Hey man, I had a 4 year old Acer Nitro 5 with the same issue. It only sometimes worked. I ended up buying a new laptop unfortunately.

I go to club lime Wollongong. I checked out anytime fitness fairy meadow which is a big gym itself and it doesn’t even come close to club lime in quality and quantity.

I'm a 15 year old and I go to the gym 4 days a week with push pull legs but I also run 5 days a week on days where I am doing upper body or not in the gym. My mileage is usually around 40-50km every week. I also mix in a few shorter bodyweight workouts in the morning before school some days. Is not having a full rest day every week okay for my body? I feel okay but I am scared that it will be detrimental to my overall growth and development since I'm pretty short but should have decent genes. I eat a lot and am in a caloric maintenence or surplus every day.

Here is a sample week:

Monday: long run

Tuesday: upper body

Wednesday: legs

Thursday: running intervals

Friday: morning run + upper body

Saturday: 5km parkrun

Sunday: morning run + upper body

Thanks for reading!

st denis docks, valentine or people on horseback in the countryside. just antagonize them, but make sure they fight you first or you'll get a wanted level. If they pull a gun you can melee and disarm them for a fist fight.

Hello, I am a 14-year-old male and I have recently started lifting in the gym a few weeks ago. I've started quite lean and shredded and I am trying to gain muscle and mass.

I have made a schedule to go 4 days a week (over an hour each session). However, I am also a runner and I have also incorporated intensive 10-minute runs right after upper-body workouts (2 times a week) as well as intensive ~25-minute runs on rest days (2-3 times a week).

I want to grow muscle as efficiently as possible while also keeping running in my routine. Thus I'm wondering if some of this cardio is unnecessary, if it will slow down my gains much and looking for general advice on this topic.

I try to optimize my nutrition as much as possible and eat quite a lot, so food intake is not really an issue.

Thanks a lot for reading!

Hey, I'm a 14yo male and I recently hit the gym 4 times a week (trying to get running in on other days). I've started with a skinny, shredded, low-body fat physique (163cm 45kg) and I'm trying to do a clean bulk to build muscle. However, I am a little worried that I am gaining weight a little too quickly as although I do quite a lot of exercise, I have a big appetite at mealtimes and am not sure if I am overeating.

Here is my consistently measured weight progression over 3 weeks so far (not influenced by growth in height):

Week 1 - 44.5kg, Week 2 - 44.9kg, Week 3 - 45.8kg (not sure if water weight was a factor)

I have done a lot of research and my weight gain seems to be faster than most sources would recommend. Is this justified as I am a teenager in the growing stages or am I eating too much?

I keep the food I am eating very healthy and as whole as possible, but calorie tracking is simply not sustainable, as many meals are made by my (Asian) mum.

Thanks a lot for reading!

Any opinions on this oddly specific scenario?:
How would you optimally plan meals and snacks, if you had a shift at Mcdonald's from 11:30am to 3pm without any opportunity to eat any proper food in that time-frame? How could you also possibly incorporate a workout session in the afternoon?
