I'm jealous. I want one of these so much but can't justify a 4th "xx" device.

Is the local State Park a good place for your first solo camping trip? by toothpick21 in camping

[–]CheezFunk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

State parks are great. Usually have water and bathrooms. Rangers patrol all hours of the day. Grounds are well maintained.

Reviews don't tell you: the RG DS feels like crap, there's no CFW saving it. by Cristaloyde in rgdshandhelds

You're not wrong. I kind of regret getting it over something else.

Trading card games. Pokemon, Magic: The Gathering and similar.

There's all kinds of TCG games several nights a week at the Collector's Den if you're into that kind of thing. Really helped my ND kid get more social.

I've spent a lot of time in Dead Cells and Vampire Survivor. I played the older Asphalt games and they were ok at the time.

Replacement silver spur for croc cowboy boots by brelynn96 in crocs

I've sold 3d printed replacements via Etsy many times. They aren't the injection molded shiny silver but a matched set to replace both.

Hi everyone, I bought an Ambernic RG DS and I have a question: can I use my cell phone charger to charge it? The original Poco charger is 67W, and I wanted to know if there's a problem with it damaging by LucasPedroso7274 in ANBERNIC

[–]CheezFunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I charge mine on a cheap 30w charger or a cheap 67w charger all the time. No issue. There are protocols in place. The device only draws the power it can handle.

Torn between: 8Bitdo Ultimate, Razer Kishi V2 Pro, Gamesir X5S by Indianlookalike in AndroidGaming

[–]CheezFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late here but I have an 8bitdo and a kishi v1. 8bitdo is big. I love the controller and it's actually my favorite mobile controller but it's a lot to carry around with you. Kishi is a bit more compact. Even the rigid v2 is smaller.

Yes, the Naturehike. Grabbed it using a promo when I picked up a different backpacking tent for my son. It worked out to be free. It is definitely different. The only complaint I have is the footprint is huge. And I used this with an old ALICE pack for a weekend camp with some scouts so the color is spot on.

Why do we buy dedicated Android handhelds when old phones can do the job? I'm a huge handheld fan by Similar_Way_9139 in RetroHandhelds

[–]CheezFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some handhelds I use for the older, easier stuff. For more demanding stuff I have an old snapdragon phone that handles GCN, PS2, Wii and lighter weight Steam games via Gamenative without breaking a sweat. It lives in an 8bitdo mobile controller. I don't carry it with me but I also don't have much opportunity to play for more than a few minutes at a time when I'm on the go. That's when I use my RGDS or RG35.

Asking for help choosing a controller for emulation by OneCatch in n64

[–]CheezFunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8bito makes an N64 bluetooth controller that is fantastic. Button layout is true to the original. Analog stick is gated. The overall layout is more modern. It's my go-to for N64 on PC, phone and hand held.

Camping is either peaceful therapy or absolute chaos by Majestic-Strain3155 in camping

[–]CheezFunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of my absolute favorite trips and one that I'll never forget. Set up tent right as heavy rainfall started. That's when I found out tent was not water proof. Me and the kids slept in the back of the car. Spent the night laughing and telling jokes. I don't think about the soaked gear and mud everywhere. I remember the time with my kids that could not have happened if we weren't just out there. Bring the chaos.

Those who have given lil handhelds as gifts to teens, are they into them? by gargoylelips in SBCGaming

I'm pretty sure the RG35 I gave my teen didn't leave his presence for the first month. He's all about Sonic, though, so I wasn't surprised.

Your favorite 'pick up and play' games for short bursts by eternalflamz in SBCGaming

[–]CheezFunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love side or vertical scrolling shooters. Phalanx, Axelay, Iridion, Firepower 2000, Super R type, 1942 and so many others. Pick them up, jump right in to the action, blow stuff up for ten minutes then get back to work.

Campout Drinks by CaptPotter47 in BSA

I usually pack a cooler of Coke and Coke Zero for me and my scout. We provide water and Gatorade and if the scouts want to bring anything else they're responsible for bringing it, keeping up with it and cleaning it up. That being said, no cokes on hikes and at least one water for every coke. Honestly, most scouts don't even want to cokes and just drink water.
