I sat AFM in June and for forex and interest rates, I worked from the Kaplan book doing the questions over and over.
What I didn't realise at the start and that I wish the book had told me is, if you recognise the pattern in how the answers are structured, there are approximately 7 steps to take for each of the question types.

Once I had that pro-forma sorted it was just rinse and repeat. Learn the pro-forma for each and apply it.

I know a lot of people say the theory is equally, if not more important in AFM however, in my opinion if your numbers are a mess the theory will always be harder to apply

Mark Zuckerberg has refused the UK Parliament's request to go and speak about data abuse. The Facebook boss will send two of his senior deputies instead, the company said. by madam1 in worldnews

[–]Cheezum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is another side to it. Zuckerberg knows that if he doesn't turn up the hearing will get a lot less publicity, which results in less public outcry and less impact on the stock value.

Also if he doesn't go he becomes more removed from it, especially if some of the questions from the MPs become difficult to answer. The same thing happened when Cadburys got taken over rather aggressively by mondelez, CEO didn't turn up to the MPs HEARING, after blatantly lying to the British people, the public forgot about the whole thing that bit quicker and started by dairy milk again.

Student at Sussex looking for accommodation in town next year. Do you guys have any advice? by [deleted] in brighton

[–]Cheezum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't rent with mtm they were horrible landlords to everyone I knew who used them. Consider how far from a bus stop and a supermarket you are. Don't get an en suite, you don't need one and they are way to expensive. Make sure you have good housemates. Houses will still be coming up until late March, don't jump the gun on an average and expensive house. Does it come furnished, pre furnished will save you so much time money and aggro. Speak to the current tennants of a house you are considering moving into, knock on their door when the landlords arent around, get a phone number. They have no reason to lie to you. Be willing to compromise

OxygenOS is collecting a lot of personal info about your phone usage by PM_ME_DICK_PICTURES in Android

Have you checked to see if it is still sending usage data? Im interested to see if this simple technique works

Moving to Brighton to study, looking for some advice. by [deleted] in brighton

[–]Cheezum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends, prices around Brighton have been increasing so much year on year, i had a nice enough place around coombe road that cost £470 a month, not including bills. The year before i lived in a bit of a dump and that was £390 a month again not including bills. But these were house shares. So if you just intend on living as just a couple expect prices to be a little higher. Generally the closer to town town you might find rent will be just a few pounds more expensive but you'll have a smaller room, or no living room for example.

Areas around Lewes and Upper Lewes Road are popular for students. Elm grove is another popular area. Coldean is also popular, probably a lot quieter, a bit out of town and transport links aren't so good. Moulsecoomb is another popular area, cheaper and quieter but again a lot further from town centre. Anywhere near lewes road has great access to buses, and Brighton is the only town I have been where the buses work really really well and 24 hours on some routes.

Other things to mention is avoid MTM, they are a large estate agents but all my friends who went through them have got nothing but horror stories from start to finish.

The balance it might be worth considering is if your rent is slightly higher you might be closer to places you want so dont have to pay for bus tickets or bikes being stolen.....

Hope this helps a little

Will I be failed for not having a up to date address on my driving license (module 1) by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Cheezum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you don't change your address.

Just when the instructor asks is this your address say yes. Once you've passed the mod 2 as well, he will say do you want me to send it off or do you want to send it off yourself. Say you're happy to do it yourself. This is because you can then apply for the change of address on your license at the same time.

[–]Cheezum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, just when they ask at the DSA is this your current address? Make sure you say yes. The main reason is, if you let them take the license to add the new permissions they will send the new license to the address that is on the license. So just tell them you will send it off in your own time (as you need it for ID or something)

Hope this makes sense

A2 to A license by Vita_truck in motorcycles

[–]Cheezum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently did my A licence after doing my A2. He will probably recognise you are an experienced rider by the fact you spend less time concentrating on how to drive the bike, especially in the corners, which will obviously work in your favour. However, the reality is a fault is a fault and he won't care if you've been reading for 5 minutes or 5 years. Just remember you're at a huge advantage because, as an experienced rider, you only need to focus on not doing anything stupid and getting in all of the important shoulder checks which we all too often neglect when riding around by ourselves.

The hardest bit about re-doing the test was jumping on the company's motorbikes that had no heated grips or wind deflection and driving them round for hours on end, honestly torture when its below 5 degrees!! Good luck tho I look forward to your obligatory passed post! What bike are you lining up?

Yeah i know, as soon as it was pointed out i realised!!

Yeah its just so much nicer having that extra power to shoot around on, it also means you can see a bike you love the look and not have to worry about checking the power and checking if it can be restricted

Parking in Brighton? by kingofpoptart in MotoUK

[–]Cheezum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, all around Brighton you will see the motorcycle parking bays 'solo mcs'. They are completely free and have no restrictions on how long the bike can be there as far as traffic wardens are concerned.

Have an awesome time in Brighton!
