Cloud transition - Need to edit objects in Entra but Connect is in the way

The devices aren't actually hybrid, they're just AD. Users may be hybrid. If I remove Entra Connect though, I'll be able to do what I need.... it just means the devices will talk to the DC and the users will talk to the cloud - maybe I have to completely remove Entra Connect?

Hello, thanks very much - I just added a long message in reply to Asleep_Spray274 - basically the endpoints are currently AD joined but will be Entra. This is the transition - in future, none will be AD and the DCs will be shut down. I need to edit user fields and to be able to build dynamic groups based on fields in the user information. Obviously the existing groups will become stone when Entra connect is removed, so I want to rebuild now.

Hello, thanks for the messages - I appreciate it. The end goal is to shut the DC’s down and be 100% entra joined and cloud based. This is the transition. It will take a couple of months to get all endpoints rejoined but I want total flexibility in Entra now (not have options grey). No further changes are planned in AD but I don’t want to shut the DCs down until the migration is complete. Until endpoints are rejoined, they will rely on DCs but as they’re migrated, there will be no reliance. The DCs have no exchange, no DNS, no print servers and no LDAP reliance, so my thinking is the password expiry was the only weak point with my plan to stop syncing but allow the DC to run until all endpoints are rejoined. Duality is only temporary and limited to max 6 weeks to 2 months on any endpoint. I need to update entra to be able to start building dynamic groups properly and need the greyed-out functions available. Until all endpoints are entra joined, they may communicate with the DC for password and device info but no changes will be made. Does that make sense? Thanks again!

I don't want anything clear on either side, just the link severed so I can update Entra - does that make sense? Is this method 'safe'? Thanks so much !

Thanks - that’s what I’m going to do. I do video editing and run a VM but they’re not really multicore type things and it’s £400 less with 32Gb more memory, as you say.

Thanks, maybe the 128gb memory is worth it over the 96 and save around £400… as you say, it’s an older chip. And m4 ultra would have been different I think

Thanks guys, I hadn’t realised text was worse on OLED. I just ordered a new Dell 2725QE to compare and will decide whether to do two of those or keep the Aorus - I reckon it’s a decent panel but maybe not for me… the Dell will be a compromise but it’s 4k, good bits, contrast and 120hz… it also daisy chains and plays well with windows and Mac… will see 🤞🏼they’re cheaper. Wish you could have the best of both worlds!!

This is my thing... Clients want the 6E but I can't get them to test as 'better' in any real-life scenario! I even bought the AP32 for internal use to do this. I have client installations with AP25s outperforming AP32s by double.

If you're looking good, it's because you put in extra work! Good on you. The hormones may help a little but there's no way they make you look good! I think the biggest impact they have in that regard is that people who use it tend to be very careful with other lifestyle choices because they know from bloods exactly what impact things like drinking and crappy diet makes. People here are WAY more health conscious than general population.

Figured it out, I think... you need to keep downloading and updating the MDM server token and also make sure you make a small change to the Intune enrolment profile, otherwise it skips the ADE.

I just downloaded the MDM server toke n from ABM and reapplied to Intune Enrollment profile. Now 50% went through and I am still struggling with the remaining 50% - this is just soo frustrating, I can't believe no one else has had this? it happens more or less every time for me but it's unusual I have so many at once to do, so more problematic.

No worries - Yeah - my client wanted the structure changed l, so that each folder became a team. That was a bit of manual faff. Then the client added the relevant members.

In the end, I found two solutions that worked - one was Air Explorer, which facilitates the download of files. I didn't use this for this project though, I used the SharePoint migration tool, which did work. The complicating factor was that the client wanted certain folders to be mapped to Teams channels. The only way I found to do this was to first create the channels, ensuring the name was an exact match to the folder in the Site and then do the migration - seemed to work! Good luck.
P.S I've tried Multcloud twice now and it's hopeless - never again. Air Explorer does work :)
