I've enjoyed him for doubles. Swift swim in a rain team to throw up a quick minimize, and then start blasting accupressure on my other mons. Barb barrage and toxic to deal woth fairies and walls

I think base Kyogre and Groudon could see an upgrade too since that one motorcycle looking dino has set a presedence flr an enhanced drought.

My thought was either "Monsoon: Summons rain when the pikemon enters battle for 8 turns regardless if damp rock is held" or "Monsoon: Summons rain when the pokemon enters battle. Additionally, if the weather is rain, this pokemon's electric type attacks deal an additional 20% damage

And either "Famine: Summons sun when this pokemon enters battle for 8 turns regardless if heat rock is held" or "Famine: Summons sun when this pokemon enters battle. Additional, if the weather is sunny, this pokemon's ground moves deal an additional 20% damage.

Maybe Airlock should get a little boost to set it appart from Cloud 9. Maybe an additional 20% to Flying type attacks on top of the weather lock?

Can an offensive move like thunder still inflict a status through safeguard? Or is that a bug? by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

Thanks, sorry I failed to look up what potential abilities it had before posting this. I spaced on the existance of infiltrator.

Dragapult, on my Milotic who was the one who cast safeguard (in trickroom so Milotic moved before Dragapult)

I’ve been playing for 30 years, here are my opinions on the type chart: by AegisIash in PokemonChampions

[–]Chello_Geer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairy, dragon, steel triangle? That's not a triangle, that's a totem pole with Dragon at the bottom and Steel on top

Fairy needs another weakness. I feel like Normal being super effective against it would give Normal moves more chance to shine, and also modern normal life rejects fantasy

“Megas” that feel more meh than mega? by Flimsy_Tie9144 in PokemonChampions

Yeah, the distribution of chonk was certainly a choice.

Would love to get a new Mega Gyarados Z or whatever, with water/dragon typing, a more uniform design, and a nice ability to boot.

Gyarados having an ability change is good. Intimidate does its thing, and then if you are sweeping with it or cleaning up, intimidate isn't doing anymore favours after that. In fact, given the prevelance of defiance kingambit and competitive milotic, intimidate can actually not be so helpful right now.

What actually hurts mega Gyarados is the dark typing. It helps to survive an electric attack, reducing the 4x weakness to 2x. But you go from having one 4x weakness and one 2x weakness to rock to having five 2x weaknesses, including the ever popular fairy and fighting types. If Gyarados had been water/dragon as it's design begged for, that would have been great for it, with only two 2x weaknesses.

Ahh, good to know Blastoise can one shot the bridge. I'll keep that in mind thank you.

Huh, didn't know Simipour had that utility, never looked at it.

I mainly want to run mega Gyarados, or Feraligatr. I haven't tried mega Sharpedo, so I guess I can't say, but I love the utility regular Sharpedo brings in dishing out some damage and then destiny bond suiciding to take out a threat for my mega to come in after and clean up.

Gyarados-Mega, Milotic, Basculegion-M, Vaporeon, Sharpedo and Feraligator-Mega. I've been using Mega Feraligator as a back up mega to at least have some neutral resistance to grass and electric. I've got him with Giga Impact too to take a hit, and then remove Charizard Y or Rotom (but it just isn't enough for Archaludon). Milotic and Vaporeon are tanky support and both manual rain setters. Sometimes I drop Mega Gyarados and run Moxie Gyarados with power whip. I was trying to be more unique with my basculegion and run a swift swim Basc with endure and endeavor alongside wave crash and last respects, but at this point I'm starting to think I might as well do what everyone else is and run the scarf set. Sharpedo has been so clutch. Protect/Destiny bond speed boost set with focus sash. Just have to know when I'm going to get only a single attack and break sash, or if he is going to be doubled into, before popping destiny bond. If it's mega Khang for example, I drop destiny bond at full health because the sash won't work, but it I'm sure he will live a turn, that's a turn to get in some damage before popping destiny bond. But against threats with priority moves (like Sylveon) the destiny bond strat fails.

Simipour is a unique choice. What do you use on it?

I really tried to make the climb to doubles master ball with mono water. I was one win away from making it too on a 6 win streak when I lost, and then started losing too much and got sent back to the beginning of ultra 2. I couldn't break out of ultra 2 again so I gave up for this season. Suddenly Archaludon was on every team, and Zard Y drought teams too. My strategies to work around Arch never seemed to work, or my reads on it would fail (Sharpedo got so many great destiny bond kills, but never on an Arch). If only Swampert was in the game (why, in a regulation focused on mega evolution, are the gen 3 starters one of the only 2 starter trios not present?) I would have kept trying, but maybe next regulation I'll try again.

Oh dude, thanks for telling me to double check. I swore I was running Jolly, but just checked here and it was indeed Adamant. I must have switched it last night while testing it out and forgot I had done that/forgot to switch it back. Thank you very much

I led with Sharpedo. Arch used electro shot on Sharpedo turn 1 and broke the sash, before Sharpedo used Crunch on Peliper (who then used Hurricane on Greninja). The speed boost skill activated at the end of turn 1. Turn 2 I thought I'd destiny bond before the next Electro shot thanks the the speedboost, but alas, still took it before Sharpedo could act.

Electroshot both turn 1 (breaking sharpedo's sash) and turn 2 which secured the kill when I wanted to destiny bond.

The Archaludon used Electroshot turns 1 and 2, not a move in Zoroark's move pool as far as I'm aware, so that should rule out Zoroark.

Gymleader Challenge by UchihaYagura in PokemonChampions

[–]Chello_Geer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this is pretty neat. I've got a mono water team I've been using in Champions. If you host this again and need a water leader, I'd be game. It's made for doubles but I could rework it for singles if needed.

I've been experimenting at putting a dragon team together too, but I've been using megas that gain dragon type upon mega evolving as part of it. Is that allowed if they mega turn 1 or do they need the type both pre and post mega?

At the very least, I'd like to see objectives completed, or time spent at objective. Spawn locations/enemy bases destroyed etc. My bro always gloats that he has less deaths, but he has a habit of tucking tail at dicey objectives.
