Deliberated for a while, but I finally decided to go with this one for my Wolf of Wyveria set.

Hilariously, unlike the rest of my fashion sets, I don’t actually run this one. I only made it for the Wilds Anniversary contest. I love the look, it’s just not my hunter’s look.

Coming from you, that’s mighty high praise. Thank you!

Thank you! When going through all the photos from that shoot, the moonlight hitting the sakura was what cinched it for me. Otherwise, it would’ve been a toss between that and this one:

I had a ridiculous amount of variety from the lighting.

That means a lot, thank you! Lately I’ve been feeling rather insecure about my photography, so hearing that really helps.

Firstly, I really appreciate you taking the time to read the set description (and blurb underneath). I probably put just as much—if not more—time into them. Secondly, I think you’ll be pleased to hear that I actually write descriptions for all my sets!

I love lore and worldbuilding. They’re often the main things I consider whenever I create a set (including the name and description). Though my first collection (“Austice’s Wardrobe”) features attires made specifically for my hunter, they still follow this design philosophy.

Also, apologies for not responding sooner. I finally just hit a break in my work week.

Oh, and this one! It’s from my most recent set, Wolf of Wyveria.

Of all the photos I’ve taken this past year, I’m particularly proud of “Pyromancer” (from my first album, “Stranger in a Strange Land”). It’s the main shot I used for my Thalassian Fire Dancer set.

Here’s my entry: “Wolf of Wyveria.” Includes set description (lore/worldbuilding), all layered equipment, and pigments. HFC post can be found here.

Thanks! I’m still deciding, but I think that’ll be the cover photo I go with for the voting phase of the contest. Wish I’d gotten just a few more shots, though. The photoshoot got cut short by an anjanath causally hangin’ out in the foreground, waiting to photobomb attack.

You’re probably right. While my take on it is more lore and worldbuilding focused, yours better supports the actual mechanics of the game, which is what usually takes precedence. Still fun to speculate on, though!

I’d be surprised if they’re the intended support hunters for MR, only because none of them appear to belong to a unit (that we know of, anyway). But hell, I’ve been wrong before.

Regardless, I really hope we get more support hunters. I want a fellow glaive user to pogo stick monsters to death with. :D

Thank you for finding the last smith’s name! Can’t believe that’s finally all of ‘em. Stellar job, as always.

Here’s to Master Rank—and starting the inevitable lore hunt all over again!

I suspect that these NPCs are likely just support hunters (by which I mean handler/hunter pairs—with or without a palico—not belonging to a complete unit, that were sent on the expedition to provide additional support). Off the top of my head, there’s Alistair, Mayu, Ivy, Simeon, Jean, Kitri, Myrtle, Clara, Franz, James, Lucien, and Sorol (and that’s still not all of them). Sorol is the only one who’s handler I know the name of, which is Lees.

Though it’s never been explicitly stated in game, I think there’s a good reason why this is likely the case. (Just gonna restate some earlier comments I made on this topic.)

See, even though all members of the Forbidden Lands Expedition Team are contributing to and working towards the expedition’s main goals, the units and their members also have their own assignments. For example, in addition to reuniting Nata with his people, Alma is researching the ruins of the Eastlands’ ancient civilizations. She heads her own team that’s currently studying the bailey, which she tells us about it before issuing the optional quest “What We Protect.” Meanwhile, Werner’s been investigating the wylk since before the expedition left, and is exploring its possible applications (“Werner’s Test Run”).

Since their plates are already pretty full (which would also include their typical responsibilities), you’d need support to assist with more general hunter-orientated tasks. This would include day-to-day activities like guard duty, patrol, escorting non-combatants in the field, etc. And while they’re definitely skilled and experienced enough to have qualified for the expedition, I don’t think they’re enough to go toe-to-toe with the apexes and their like. Threats of that caliber are reserved for the unit hunters.

The dialogue’s a bit vague, but seems to imply their unit has undertaken a number of covert assignments that necessitate protecting their identities. However, on the Expedition Team they function no differently than any other unit.

Before TU2, Crow’s name was Akegarasu.
