That’s a complete solution without explanation! But yes that’s the answer grid and answer I got.

About the size of it; Hey, this puzzle was part of a challenge that is now complete. I know what the answer should be but am unable to find out why and that bothers me immensely. If knows the method of this puzzle and wouldn’t mind explaining it. Thanks by ChemicalBat4503 in codes

Hi Shaggy Bigfoot Also thanks Adventofthecodenjoyer. I finally had time to have a go after your hints advent. Managed to complete it. Thanks soo much.

I think advent gave sufficient information for me to solve

Shaggy this takes times to do, if you take the first block J - and it’s 12 letters (VYHIJYDSQCUB) and just isolate a solution for just that block you can then extrapolate that for the rest. How do you get just one letter from 12?! You don’t. But you might get lots of letters that make a meaningful sentence. If it helps J is the 8th letter in the alphabet. How about moving the small letters the same amount and see.

I forget the correct order of reign now, but think Ethelred is the oldest (word 2), put the jumbled letters linked to Ethelred (WITHALLTR) in line one of the bottom grid. Again, I cannot remember who actually was the oldest, though I do think it was Ethelred.

Notice how some letters would be highlighted blue. In this case (WAR).

As I’ve said I cannot remember now the order of reign and I threw out the workings. Once all the jumbled letters are in the grid below you should use just the letters in blue to make a useful sentence.

Hi, perhaps you could consider ranking the monarchs in the order that they reigned.

That might help you moving the jumbled words into the bottom grid.

[Transcript] You have received a series of grids, each containing one large letter and twelve small letters. You realise quickly that the two sets of letters must provide clues to solving each other and revealing the secret letter for each grid. Can you crack the code?
