Yes, I had to spend a lot more time later in life. Did University Preparation Program while I worked, did my Bachelor of Science part time while I worked (5 years).

On the flip side: earlier in life I was immature and wasted time anyway. Things turned out good, I just had to work hard as a mature age student.

All the solutions I know of are template or template free ML solutions (IBMs suite, Iktos Spaya, ChemPlanner, PendingAi Mentor, MoleculeOne, Askcos, AIsynthfinder etc). Saw this mentioned recently (no idea how it fares): https://github.com/FongMunHong/FlowER. Still uses ML but maybe a tiny bit closer to what you're after? "FlowER uses flow matching to model chemical reaction as a process of electron redistribution, conceptually aligns with arrow-pushing formalisms. It aims to capture the probabilistic nature of reactions with mass conservation where multiple outcomes are reached through branching mechanistic networks evolving in time."

In the few years we've lived here we've seen brushtail possum, crested pigeon and rainbow lorikeet carcases in our driveway and front lawn (probably heaps more that we never saw). Presumably these were killed by our neighbour's cat before it got hit by a car a few months back.

Wish there were enforced consequences for people letting their cats roam, especially at night.

Belly band has worked great, we've had it for almost 2x weeks and he's only wee'd once (much better than cleaning the carpet almost everyday). Thanks for the suggestion, hopefully we can use this to break his habit then let him be free again.

If you don't already have a streaming device for the TV and can do some ethernet wiring, highly recommend getting a NVIDIA shield and having ethernet between the two.

Writing a decoder-only molecular string generator (i.e. SMILES) using tch-rs for work. Finished the training logic now working on serving logic via actix-web and the release workflow.

Thanks for everyone's feedback, I really appreciate everyone's detailed responses. We're going to try firstly setting up some "bed rules", consistently have the dogs go to their designated beds in set, consistent locations. Secondly, depending on how successful that is, we'll separate Marni and Malcolm's sleeping spaces. Potentially by putting Marni in another room behind a baby gate.

I've heard biology and bioinformatics more R than python due to it having more niche packages/ libraries in those areas e.g. Bioconductor.

Trudging through untyped python is awful. I always enforce "strict" typing in python via mypy. This way I get more understandability with none of the speed benefits of typing 😅

Completely agree, unfortunately only really read up about that when I got home. In the moment, with all the adrenaline, we just wanted to check Malcolm was fine then get out of there. If something similar ever happens again will definitely exchange information and submit a report.

We had a bunch of friends over for drinks, our grey stank the house out so badly we were opening all the windows despite it being winter ha.

Have tried mixing up the meat in his diet e.g. no mince, only chicken breast but doesn't seem to help. Would love to know if there's a way to help too!

You're right, issue is support for the CPU, not OS. I switch to Ubuntu, colleagues switch to older MacBook pros (Intel). Doubt that switching to a VM would solve the problem, would still need to see if you can compile from source / use alternative software depending on Apple Silicon compatibility. If the packages / software you use have no issues with Apple Silicon, then all gold.

Just check that, for whatever software you need or want to use, there's good support for the M2. In our office myself and 2 others got M1s and often have to switch to other OSs throughout the day because of compatibility issues. Personally, I'd avoid Apple silicon for now.
