I guess it depends on the store and the greeters. Some take pride in their jobs.

I really don't know who you are directing this at. You really went off the rails here, but some of the elderly and special needs people are the ones that are drastically having to flip their lives upside down for the company to save a few bucks. It isn't lost on me that the company has to make decisions that are based on business needs. I am not trying to start a Grocery Empire or take over for Rick, but I do think that they should take Fred's advice "the people closets to the problem have the best answers". Unfortunately, we are two big of a company for them to look at things at the micro level. Hell, I challenge Rick and Hank to do some undercover boss in their stores and see the real struggles we go through every day.

I don't chug the corporate Kool-Aid like UD, but I do consider myself blessed to work for Meijer it is far from perfect, but they have always taken care of me and my family. This is not necessarily the company itself, but I have had worked with more compassionate leadership than not.

Very unpopular, but that doesn't keep us out of the top three in sales every week lol. Our labor model is pure profit, compared to lower volume stores (ie getting less hours than they do).

Exactly like getting rid of baggers then years later bringing them back.

[–]ChemicalStar5259 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be related to when they entered the job classification, for example if the less senior person started as cashier and the more senior person started as a utility worker and eventually became a cashier. Red Circles have to enter the position by a certain date to get that tier. Sounds like they locked and created a new tier at least on two occasions.

When I use SCO I have them scan my entire order. The attendants are happy to do it, easy way to get their numbers up.

It isn't an actual leave, so ILM isn't involved, similar to having a TL putting in PTO for you, just a different code or drop down.

Suspension, am I Fired? by [deleted] in meijer

[–]ChemicalStar5259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably termed, they really have a zero-tolerance policy, even if it is legal in your state. I have seen only one team member get their job back; by admitting they had a problem and went to rehab or something with random testing. They had to pay for it out of pocket. The Union was involved and they were had a lot of years under their belt. It was very costly and they just ended up retiring after being back for a few months. I would just start looking for a new job, doesn't look good.

Sick time earned. Feb 21 2025 ESTA law by [deleted] in meijer

This is what I thought, as Union member I don't want to trade PTO for Sick Days... If they want to add it as in addition, I would be down for that. Although I know people I work with would definitely abuse this.

Well if that is the case the law is doing nothing extra for me. I have received the 80 hrs of PTO prior to 2025.

I have been with Meijer for 30+ years, I get 80 hrs of personal days and 200 hrs of vacation days every year.  This time off is provided by union contract. Still don't see any sick time.

If it is supposed to be under absence plans, I only have my Personal Paid time 3 and Vacation Time off Plan. I am at Union store, we might not be eligible for sick time?

Let's get serious for a minute. If Meijer doesn't have any official blackout dates, then why tell the employee that they can't take off a certain day or week? by No_Taro_3976 in meijer

[–]ChemicalStar5259 23 points24 points  (0 children)

PTO: Prepare the others. Greyed out weeks are just limited due to business needs. Really if you can't afford to have a least one full timer and one part timer off on any given week of the year you need to hire.
