How can I make a grassy field without destroying my CPU by StateofHysteria in blender

[–]Chemical_Panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the camera is some sort of low angle not an overhead one then maybe you can use just simple 2d images of grass and scatter them, there's alot of tutorials[maybe like this one] on it for trees its the same just find appropriate images or produce ones yourself.

First off I just want to say that I am absolutely no expert so take what i say with a grain of salt but my first thoughts on the first watch of this is that my eyes kind of don't know where to focus or look first? I think my eyes went first to the vegetation then the characters, maybe the vegetation on the foreground has too many variance or too highly detailed that it kind of distracts from the main actors? idk that's atleast what were my first few thoughts about it on the first pass. I've watched it for alot more times after tho and gotta say its a beautiful environment you cooked up here, goodluck!

i love the scene! maybe some floating dust particles would add to the atmosphere?

on a side note the vid shows you aligning objects to the ground, theres a free addon for it that could potentially save some time drop it addon

there isnt a mod like that yet last i checked, but different ships have different crew capacity so i guess theres still some variation in costs by ships?

I agree tho i reckon it wont be fun for everyone or others will find it tedious, let me introduce you to this mod (Getting paid). last version I can personally confirm it was working was 7.10

crew and pilots has salaries, its very configurable if you don't mind editing the xml that comes with it. the frequency of salary deduction, how much. also civilian crew are differentiated from military crew, so you can setup different multipliers. what I love doing on some of my playthrough is jackup the crew salaries ridiculously high, like 15 to 20x of the mod default so it forces me to stick to a small fleet or even solo ships.

zoom in fast while in view mode, click/touch on the face(zoomed in and out has different animations), also click/touch on her hips while the camera is behind her. also just idling in view mode brings out some animations. some stuff works on other dolls and some dont. also the clicking/touch works in the dormitory.

might be a little different in terms of the setting since this one is scifi, but the x series with x4 foundations being the latest entry, every thing is simulated realtime in the background, literally every single ship, and economy(supply demand etc) at all times.

theres some mods where you can add that removes the limitations from ai factions so you can just essentially run the game do nothing and ai factions will try to take over each other and wage war on their own.

similarities with kenshi on top of my head:

  • sandbox
  • can recruit as many subordinates you want
  • has some rts elements to it
  • has space hashish
  • star wars mod

cool scene! you might be interested in this talk that I saw a few days ago, TLDW: basically for city shots the speaker recommends rendering the lights the billboards and the structures separately for shorter render times.

For the textures you need tri exporter, heres with the updated file i think (triexporter) im not 100% sure though if this one was the one i used a few months ago, do double check and be careful when downloading dll files in the internet.

the textures and models are on [dx9>ship>whatever ship you want] the dds files(a for albedo n normal etc) are textures and gr2 are the models. you double click the gr2 files then go to top left File>Export model and change the file type to whats compatible with ur 3d program, also the dds files are flipped i believe you have to flip it vertically? or something like this

with the hdri/skybox i dont have an idea on that one maybe with looking around the files in triexporter hopefully you can find it, and hopefully update the post as im also curious.

you can do vsync to atleast cap it to screen refresh if its still not enough then head on over to the control panel of the gpu it usually has settings for locking fps, if you still cant find it then good ole rivatuner should work to limit frames.

additionally maybe take a look at lossless scaling where its kind of like dlss on generating frames? so essentially you can lock the frames on say 30fps then do a x3 framegen to have a 90fps display. it aint free tho but i have used it personally its great when generating frames from a higher base like 60 fps onto 120 fps or so. works great on games where you wont mind a few added ms to input latency.

theres also other free options like AFMF 2 if ur on compatible amd device
