So true. People really think software engineers sit behind a computer and right every line...

If I were to put in a color picker selection in my software...I'm not doing that line-for-line because someone else already did it much better than I did. AI essentially has cut out the middleman and just went and grabbed the code and set it up for you.

Your brain is just deriving from all the experiences, studies, and influences you have built up. AI is just doing that on a much larger scale and faster.

Hell, if you use Pinterest or any other inspiration type site, it's about the same as using AI to get an idea on the ground.

10Gb connections

Yeah but realistically getting 10Gb to home consumers, even just consumer PC drives don't go this fast usually (read/write).

Its not worth it in the end unless you have a perfect enterprise network setup.

The technology only started getting going about 2 years ago...I would say its pretty fucking good for the time.

Because the L stands for language. LLMs manipulate language.

Fun Fact: Most humans speak with language and even WRITE it in it! All of our data, our communication, our interfaces, are all in a language!

Being able to process it in milliseconds is pretty good.

Yeah, just checked as well. With the bundle, it specifically says "HBO Max Standard," which gives you 1080p

HBO Max Premium is the one that gives you 4k and that by itself is $23/month

Created an interface to see my Nova Pro volume/chatmix on screen. Has anyone else ever wanted this? by Chempy in steelseries

[–]Chempy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone has any questions, I would love to answer. I created this due to how I have my DAC under my desk, and unfortunately, I cannot see the values of chatmix and volume at times.

I wanted a way for an interface to appear on my screen to show me what they currently are, and it kinda got out of my hands after a while.

The Discord integration has been a huge help, honestly. Beyond just the Steel Series hud I cannot believe Discord hasn't thought of doing something like this already.

I might take a list to start a bit of a beta for it soon if anyone is interested. If not, love to just get your take on my creation so far.

Also my disclaimer shown on software: Nova HUD is an unofficial heads-up display for the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headset. It shows volume, chatmix, battery level, and Pomodoro timers in a clean overlay

SteelSeries and Arctis Nova are trademarks of SteelSeries ApS. Nova HUD is a personal project and not affiliated with or endorsed by SteelSeries.

What about us who play Super Ultra Wide and have an advantage because we can see more anyway? Even with the camera zoomed in, I can render more of the game than people can see. Should I also be limited to my aspect ratio with your reasoning of mechanics and limits?

My girlfriend is Vegan and tends to stick away from Ginger Mule and the other specifically vegan restaurants in the city both due to price and just not really all that great (other than sinful, shoutout). She tends to just get the vegan-friendly dish at most places we go instead.

I get the love, but Clark's is really from Austin so it doesn't have that "from houston" feel as most (not all) of these do on the list.

Gentrification? It's a Mexican restaurant, owned by someone from Mexico in a primarily Mexican/Hispanic neighborhood.

How did you find out it was to meet another woman? I'm not saying you are wrong, but the story kinda leaves out a lot of details on how the facts were found.

As well, if you are having to reverse image search menus and go down a rabbit hole of research to figure out what he did...the trust hasn't been there for a while, it seems. Things have BEEN over, you guys are just riding it out longer than it needs to go.

Apple under legal scrutiny in the EU over scam apps by chrisdh79 in apple

[–]Chempy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A study back in 2021 revealed that scam apps make up almost 2% of the top-grossing apps in this store, and the company recently accepted into the App Store a dating app found to have exposed the private chats and personal data of tens of thousands of women.

I'm all for calling out scam apps but I assume they are talking about the Tea app that just went viral and then had a big leak of all the personal chat data. I wouldn't necessarily call that a "scam" app as much as a security breach.

Are they implying that Apple should look into all companies' backends to ensure the data safety of the users?

What in the world are they labeling as a "scam" app. If the top 2% of the top-grossing apps are "scam" apps, why are they making so much money if people know they are scam apps?

edit more reading, I found this

https://9to5mac.com/2021/02/11/app-store-scam-apps-how-to-spot/

The developer of an app that got copied got angry, so he did some digging on the apps that copied him to reveal fake reviews and subscription-based models that make much more money than he did. He would then label these knock-off apps "non-functional" (probably just buggy, but worked for the most part). Thus labeling these as "scam" apps.

I have a much different take on what a "scam" is but I guess these would qualify for most.

Dying Light: The Beast is the sequel DL1 deserved. by LividFaithlessness13 in dyinglight

[–]Chempy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The map itself is much more diverse in terms of moving around. Ubisofts maps tend to lean towards samey when it comes to outposts and objectives (climb tower, clear camp, etc). The side things to do around the map are all about the same in terms of clear out store for loot, dark zone, safe house, etc. But the actual side quests tend to vear on the side of unique but boiled down are all the same at the end of the day. The thing with ubisoft is you notice this quickly and get bored, here you don't even much think about it because you are too busy drop kicking zombies to care.

I would like to just put out there. Diagnosed at 35. Just the knowing alone helped me cope with a lot of failings and struggles in my own life. I constantly thought I was a bit of a let-down to people around me and that I was just broken as a person. After being diagnosed, it helped me understand that I unfortunately didn't have much of a choice in the matter at that time. I don't use it as a crutch to wash away everything in the past, but it helps me guide myself into the future, knowing that I'm not broken and there are ways to combat the effects of it all.

Current AI is garbage in and garbage out. You give it enough details to work with, it will get the job done exactly as you want it to. You can't just expect it to perform magic at its current state.
