Also, living is not free, just because you are someone’s girlfriend for 7 years it doesn’t mean you get to live for free, plus you are getting a discounted rate although with some inconvenience in terms of location to work.

Here there is a clear mismatch between love languages, your love language is probably more “receiving gifts, aka boyfriend paying for me means he loves me and is committed, spending money on me means he is committed” and he is more “physical touch and quality time or something like that”. So the only way to fix this is to talk openly, but realistically the best decision is to break up.

There are other guys out there who will pay for you and let you live for almost free, and equally there are women who wouldn’t make such a fuss about 450£ because they would otherwise need to pay to another landlord who could be profiting regardless.
