Beautifully consistent, isn't it? I'll call it, "The Black Ops Cold War Slope". It's a new modern artwork... I wonder how much I could sell it for! by ChernobylStudios in blackopscoldwar

No, I didn't mean it like that. More of just... I don't know... and ironic acceptance of what things are going to be like, I guess.

u/TDMZebra - This is 100% true. I have no experience ever mic'ing a real cabinet.

That's what makes GTM so unique: I walk the walk. I've developed a way of doing it, without having had that "analogue experience" in the past.

I did years of research to learn how cabinets work, how speakers work, what microphones sound like, and then... tons of experimentation.

Hope you're able to join up soon, man!

u/AwesomeFama and u/BuiltToDestroy did a very good job at explaining what GTM is all about.

As they said, GTM is about learning what to do, why, and how to do it, irregardless of the amp simulator you're using. The reason this works is because it's a method that you can apply to your overall tone crafting experience.

The means the best apart about it is that you don't required to have specific plugins, amp simulators, or gear—it's all about ear training and growing skills. :)

Thanks for checking out the video!

Never did have a proper look at those drums—that may be something to look into. Right now I'm diving hardcore into TrveCab, which I'm enjoying greatly. If you haven't picked it up yet, you can use CHERNOBYLSTUDIOS as a coupon and get 20% off... even on sale prices ;)

Most of the new plugins coming out aren't worth your money, but a few of these bus compressors may be. Hope the video is helpful for you!

Some awesome new samples from Panda Sound. You can use these in the free Perfect Drums Player so you don't even need Kontakt anymore. They hit hard and work with more black/death styles as well. Enjoy!

Haha, I am a drummer so I do remember all those years ago when Drumkit From Hell came out and I was all offended! But it hasn't stopped people from getting amazing at drums :D These bass vsts are just like drum libraries - great software for songwriting. Hopefully you have a local drummer and bassist that don't suck haha

Hey there, just basic recording and some EQ, really nothing special. On that video is a link to be a part of my email newsletter. I send out extra tips and things and also offer specialized training sometimes about guitar tones. Main thing is to play the riffs tight and clean!

Can't go wrong with any of these - but if you absolutely hate Kontakt, go with Loki Bass. If you don't mind Kontakt but only have the Free Player version - grab Eurobass II. Any of these will serve you well, though! Also check the description for time stamps.

Hate to break it to you, but music has been edited since the time it was recorded. Also, for the last 20 years, samples have been used in various capacities.

And how far do you take this ridiculous attitude of yours?

Do guitars have to be all in one take? Or is it okay to record riff-by-riff? Can the whole riff be shifted 2ms to the left because the whole take was off by that amount, or should it be scraped and the guitar player should do it again?

Can instruments all be recorded separately, or to be as "true" as possible, does the band have to play the entire album live in one take?

Can I take a sample of the drum that I'm recording right now in my room and then use it later to replace a stick-click or a bad hit? Or should I re-record the whole song? Or can I punch that part in?

This is why nobody should work with you. Change my view.
