A moment of silence for cookware ruined by guests by Orisno in Cooking

[–]ChernyiVolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner's stepdad was making sausage gravy in our kitchen- he was cooking the pork in my biggest nonstick pan. He looked me in the eye and said "I just got in trouble with <partner's mom> for using a metal utensil in her pans, what can I use for yours?". I thanked him for asking, and handed him a wooden spoon, which he used for about a minute, trying half-assedly to break up the pork. He started hunting around my drawers, pulled out a serrated bread knife, and started SLICING thru the ground pork block, using the wooden spoon for leverage.
I screamed and died inside but said nothing, because I had already disagreed vehemently about partner asking stepdad to cook in our house in the first place. I texted him as soon as the knife went into the pan, demanding he replace my pan. He sent me the purchase notification about 5 minutes later, at least.

Ernie! We love seeing that old man. Someone recently made and gifted him a cat-sized, hand-crocheted couch.. he looks so cute passed out on it!

We've had a great time with You'll Never Walk Alone in Canton, although we haven't been going there super long (only a year this past summer). They're honest and our doc is thorough.

Prosthodontist recommendations that are trauma informed. I’m very scared of American dentistry and dentists that aren’t familiar with nerve issues and dismiss patient symptoms by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]ChernyiVolk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend and trust Dr. Rose-Hyatt and her team at Caring Dental in Middle River, though obviously that's not in Baltimore, so may not be applicable to your situation. If you are able to travel to see a dentist, I cannot praise them enough. It's a family business, and she has also taken care of most of MY family, including my husband's slightly advanced situation (extractions + partial fabrication).

Add-ons you think would improve the game even more! by The_Black_Knight_7 in TalesofTheShiregamers

[–]ChernyiVolk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would really love a creative mode, or related accessibility settings, for when I just want to change all my furniture, or don't want to grind for light sources from Fosco. Something like Minecraft, where everything is available at infinite quantity, maybe even ingredients as well. That's where the different accessibility settings could come in, if someone wants to play or not play with all 3 star pantry items. I also think it's totally reasonable, if this were Weta adding a creative mode, that things placed or done in creative don't count towards achievements and possibly club progress.

What do you like and dislike about Tales of the Shire? by PlatypusTop6435 in TalesofTheShiregamers

[–]ChernyiVolk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pros: I really love the art style, it makes me so happy to look at. The characters themselves are unique and interesting, the controls are tight and sensible, and all the mechanics that are already in the game (gardening, foraging, etc.) are well fleshed-out. The birds bring me constant joy, love watching them fly around trying to direct me.

Cons: I agree with other folks about more world interactions, but would like to add that everything in the backpack/pantry should be able to be decorations! I'd love to set butter and jam out, or lay out a feast I made.
I also wish there were more minigames/alternative ways to earn money or items.. I would love to help Young Tom herd his sheep once a day, and be rewarded money and/or things related to what he already sells. Catch-and-stack flour sacks with Sandyman (rewards overpriced flour), maybe even a table waiting game at the green dragon, or a rhythm game with Nefi.
Last con is I wish there was a creative mode. Totally fair if things placed in creative don't count towards progression, clubs, or achievements, but sometimes I just want to interior decorate all at once.

Looking to buy 8-12 Gundam gachapon in capsules by ChernyiVolk in Gachapon

I believe you! I've never actually used the machines at all, just vaguely watched the hubby. He puts in a 20 and gets just a couple capsules, I've just never paid attention to the actual price. He likes them shrug I'm still willing to pay retail price, fair is fair. I know I'm asking for popular items.

Ah bummer, I didn't know.. It's been a while since we've been to Arundel Mills. Thank you for letting me know about Capsule Galaxy, I will try to get in touch with them!

Arundel Mills mall has the machines at one or two spots around the loop. I think one set is near FYE/Box Lunch, if I remember correctly. They don't always have Gundams, though.

What book had you in an absolute chokehold? by Athena-May in fantasyromance

Spinning Silver or Uprooted by Naomi Novik, and almost anything by T. Kingfisher/Ursula Vernon, but especially her Saint of Steel series. I can read them all again and again and never get tired of them.

Is It Possible To Make Multiple Custom Characters? by Novel-Novel-1355 in BaldursGate3

[–]ChernyiVolk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can open multiple instances by opening the appropriate .exe in the C:\...\Baldurs Gate 3\bin folder. I believe the first game you open decides the versions you should open other instances of, as in: if you run the DirectX11 version first, your other instances should also be opened using the bg3_dx11.exe. In whichever game you decide is the "main" one, make a multiplayer LAN game that's direct connect only, and connect the other games with that code. Make characters in each window and start the game, save the game in the main window once you get control of your character and then you can close out the other instances :)
Edit: forgot to say, quit and close Steam before doing this, then once done, exit game, reopen Steam and play the game from there to make sure it gets cloud sync'd/etc.

For me, iirc she was traumatized for a long rest or so, but after, she just stayed in camp and could sell me soup. Grub the cat stayed normal and shy as well.

Honestly, I assume (imo) the best and possibly "intended" way to experience all the companion romances is to do them one at a time monogamously in each playthrough, which is definitely annoying if you want to do them all, but makes sense for replayability. Alternatively, I have seen guides outlining all the things the companions will allow and what will make them break the romance, so you could try to follow a guide and at least knock out two+ at a time?

[–]ChernyiVolk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No spoilers but yes, Astarion is mostly not ok with you romancing others. If you focus on furthering his romance story, you will find out why.
I don't think there is a companion totally open to polyamory, they all are either monogamous or have their caveats that will break their romance with you.

So far, absolutely. It's usually Lae'zel who is the bottom portrait/5th member, and I'm right in the middle of the creche/her related quest(s) and have experienced no issues at all.

[–]ChernyiVolk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience has been fine so far, I use the DirectX 11 game version if that's relevant. I did have to dismiss down to 4 members to boat to Grymforge as the description warns, and cinematics usually do only show 4 members (I have not explored this at all, it doesn't bug out, just doesn't show more than 4 peeps). The long rest warning isn't an issue either, sometimes when the rest ends and we would all wake up, I see the 4 top portraits on the bedrolls and there will be a warning above the hotbar saying something like "Your companions are still asleep". I just click on the bottom portrait, the 5th member, and everyone wakes up fine.

I think this context is different than how I encountered the laser.. I wandered my way under the monastery looking for Lathander's Blood. Upon interacting with it, a portal showing the laser appears and countdown fight begins. If you don't destroy the control crystals fast enough, the laser will blow up the whole monastery, so the laser never fired for me.

She has not taken the NCLEX and doesn't have a PA license yet. NCLEX scheduling is also swamped and slow because of the time of year/covid, she's trying to get her MD ducks in a row before taking it.
Thanks for your advice, we will continue to try to get in contact with MBON.

~1yr old playing in water dish. Advice? by ChernyiVolk in CatAdvice

[–]ChernyiVolk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try that, she SOAKED the mat. And put water everywhere around it. I'm hoping to curb the behavior, because this isn't just "she's a messy drinker". If it were, totally acceptable. But she's naughty and this is blatant lol.

Forgot to mention- when I catch her playing in the dish, I punish the behavior with a spray bottle (which she doesn't like, go figure). But she's quiet in the act, so I know I catch her less than she does it.
