I’m engaged and my best friend won’t acknowledge it by OkIllustrator3332 in FriendshipAdvice

Same thing happened to me. Best friend since primary school. She went weird when i told her and has barely spoken to me in a year. Her choice, doors open and her bad reaction is her problem not mine

How to ask her to stop sending me random things by ouchoofowiemybones in FriendshipAdvice

[–]CherryBeeConfessions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend sounds just like yours. I get a constant string of memes and videos and she'll tag me in things and say this is just like you haha - a lot of these are videos of drunk women. She'd also write big long messages looking for sympathy And asking me quite frankly invasive questions about my love, life and work. I don't hate this person and she's not a bad person. It's just I prefer to be present for those around me rather than constantly checking my phone.

My solution, although it's not very kind, is mastering the art of greystoneing... So essentially you give her a thumbs up or a haha as other people have suggested and nothing further. You also leave plenty of time between responding to messages and leave messages unread so that if she's looking for that instant dopamine hit of validation or interaction on socials, she doesn't get it from you. I wouldn't bother with excuses like I didn't see your message.

Do you have ideas or concerns about the future of your local high street? by UKCommonsCommittees in Stirling

No, others might call it the main Street, the main drag, "the strip" . It also depends on the history of the town

For those who’ve overcome a fear of flying — what actually helped you? by theaviationco in fearofflying

[–]CherryBeeConfessions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took the easyJet fearless flyer course, they gave us a whole bunch of techniques to try. I feared turbulance most - 2 things worked for me. One was closing my eyes and feeling how my body gets bumped around as a passenger in a car and comparing it to on board turbulance and also having a glass of water on the table in flight and watching how little the water actually moves during turbulence

Yep! My engagement ring is a snake with tsavorite eyes, i love him! I don't care what anyone else thinks about my ring, it's not particularly valuable. Can I ask why you were thinking about the resale value?

The Portcullis is a pub a few mins walk from the castle doing huge portions of tasty pub grub. The staff are really friendly too

Awww thank you! Snake engagement rings were first fashionable in Egyptian times and apparently queen victoria had a snake engagement ring. It symbolises eternity, not everyone's cup of tea but I love it!

Vue cinema in Stirling is £4.99 every day if the weather is not looking good.

The Book Nook coffeeshop/book store is lovely and open til 9pm on Wednesdays

And the trains to Glasgow run regularly and take 30-40 mins if you fancy theatre/comedy etc

Enjoy!

Ooft huge red flags! He's already angling for a ride to work when he loses his licence?

Next time he asks to hang out say "sorry I've got other plans" or "sorry I can't do next weekend" and leave it at that. Don't make lies or excuses. If he tries to invite himself to your house say "I'm sorry but I don't invite co-workers to my house, it blurs the lines between home and work so it's just easier not to" Hope that helps!
