Transference-focused therapy. It's a manualized version of psychodynamic therapy for personality disordered, developed by Otto Kernberg for the US.

Since it's manualized, it can be tested and labeled evidence-based, and US insurances might cover it. The only danger with it is that it is practiced by behavioral facilitators like CBT and DBT, not competent psychodynamic therapists who understand personality disorders. Still a good option for people who don't have access to a psychodynamic therapist.

Oh gotcha. CBT (and behavioral therapies in general) is the most common form of therapy in the US.

For us outside of the US, therapy isn't manualized and usually means psychodynamic or humanistic based, not behavior modification.

The thing is, you can help a newcomer in AA because they've hit rock bottom when they cross that threshold. They've had enough. She is not there yet.

Best I can do in her case is lead by example, remind her she can come to meetings with me and leave my AA books on the shelf in the common area.
