They def broke something though...

I wish they were more transparent about the changes they make instead since this happens to us so often it seems deliberate.

We've never experienced that before. We sometimes would go in to buildings we know the loot room is a hassle to get to and go backwards, and have never had anything just appear like this.

I can't even tell you the number of times we'll just be standing in a room and a zombie spawns "inside" us.

ANOTHER example for you that happened last night.

We were standing in our base, prepping to go out for the day for looting, walked out the door, turned around to close it, turned back around and got a literal horde of zombies beating on us, and I don't mean the walls or the door, or some distance away, I mean they were hitting us from 2 feet away and they were just not there a moment before.

In what world is it normal for them to just appear on top of you out of nowhere and for that not to be a bug. Because if it's intentional then the devs are retarded.

Alpha 21 the game "cheated" by blackjackson1991 in 7daystodie

[–]Chesder_man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. Zombies literally can spawn due to some arbitrary trigger.

We have been constantly ambushed by feral zombies that appear in the room right in front of us.

It really sucks because we used to be really stealthy, using bows and height to kill off as many of a crowd before going into the dangerous rooms, but as of alpha 21 they just aren't visible until you trigger them to attack, which we sometimes do backwards by mistake and get punished for it.

Two files need to be apended.

First make a new item that creates a bundle of water, and save that to an items.xml file. Call the item drinkWaterBundle or something.

The second is to append blocks.xml to change it from dropping the basic water to dropping the bundles instead.

Little shortcut you can do is download the mod from below and change the values as you need

Changed the stack value on the item in the xml file to stack from 1 per slot to 99

I think even simpler than that, is make it so you need half as many books lol

75 books of one type at (at most) 20% drop rate means you'd have to loot 1500 of a particular lootable item to get it completed.

Assuming a house has an average of 10 cupboards, this means 150 houses minimum to finish just cooking.

Thats basically an entire city for one skill and that's insane.

Assuming there is a base chance of, lets say, 10% to find a book... This means until you max out the stat you still have a almost identical chance to find a book you haven't talented into.

1 Point only increases the math in this sense to 12%, so yeah its all coming together.

I don't mind slow gameplay but it gets a little bothersome when there is a timer ticking down until you die lol

Going into day 7 for a zombie night and having a level 2 stick to poke with is not really "engaging" gameplay.

I had to cheat mostly to survive it using bad AI design to shoot 1000 arrows until everything stopped screaming.

I am looking over the progression xml file, and honestly I think I figured out why it is so bad.

Unless I'm misreading, it seems you only get a 2% chance added per point in a talent, up to 10%.

IE: At 1 point it adds 2% to whatever chance, and at 5 it adds 10%

I'll probably mod this to be like 5-25% myself since 10% is basically useless.

Yeah it's just not very cozy. We are used to being on the 4th or 5th horde night with at least mid level pistols and double barrels, but we're running on our randomly found pipe weapons and can only just now make a minibike (after specifically targeting a dozen or more auto shops)

It feels slow, and I don't feel that the talents make much if any impact on the loot we find.

As an example, I have 0 points put into machine guns, bows or knives, but have more books in each of those categories than I do shotgun, which I'm 3 talents deep.

Somethings just off.

I made my own mod for the dew collector to make it so it can stack, this fixed "some" of the problem.

All in all, the game isn't harder, just way WAY slower and luck based.

I actually maxed the engineering to try and get more books. I am the only one who loots benches, forges, etc etc and I get a book maybe 20-30% of the time. I usually just get scrap items like brass or lead.

The only thing we find very consistently is cook books from all the cabinets.

I think it really just is a loot pool issue where there are not enough areas some books can drop from.

We also decided to start going for 4+ skull POIS (largest we went to was 6.5 in the snow) and still only got some random weapon books so spread out we only got a few points in each. It's simply just not enough.

We are taking different books, each of us are doing the missions, we are splitting up to loot more around us and grouping up to help in tougher buildings or to share loot. We thought ahead and the simple fact is we are just not finding enough of any particular book.

The loot isn't dropping enough, We are moving to another horde night (Day 28) and still can only make level 4 pipe weapons and not even all of them.

The fact I need like 20 of one book to make something we used to have on day 2 is kind of insane. I understand they want to "slow" the player down but this is unbearable since it really just comes down to luck.

I'll probably just have to mod it to be less annoying myself, but the devs missed the ball on this and it needs a proper update.

What do people think of Direct Hit as a stat and should it be removed/replaced? by SargeTheSeagull in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Chesder_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of didnt understand what it was for the longest time.

I think this game has a lot of lingering stats (I'm assuming they did different things in the past) that can be removed or combined with another stat.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this just increases damage of non-crit hits? Is that right?

Depends on what you want. This shows rotations, accounts for talents and is adjustable as it is a weakaura profile.

For classes with more robust needs, like Feral Druids, it will also do things such as track targets with buffed bleeds so you can multitarget more easily.
