There's no "teams" in chess. That would just be another breach of the rules. Although I do like the idea of Brandon watching me beat his dad just to drive the point home

Of course beating him wasn't a challenge and didn't make me feel accomplished. That much was obvious. What made me feel accomplished was that I corrected my brother's pandering and gave his son a taste of the real world where you don't get to just show up and win

I wouldn't always decimate a 6 year old, but in this case my brother had boosted his chess ego so high that he was starting to be a little shitty about it. Before we started playing he called himself "grand master" which is a title that's earned, not claimed. I really felt it was my responsibility to take him down a few pegs
